What are you buying for christmas?

What are you buying for christmas?

Postby Raptor » Tue Dec 07, 2004 2:11 pm

Hey, I felt the urge to start a new topic. So here it is.

Christmas is aproaching, tralala, and so erm, what are you buying for your family? Or friends? Or whatever? this is a question in disguise to help me find something to buy for my family friends and whatever.

I got my 12 year brother the second volume of Yu Yu Hakusho on VHS (edited of course ^_^), I'm helping to pay for my 17 year old brother's class ring, and I haven't figured out what to get my Mom for Christmas. I got her the first season of Highlander last year, so I might buy the first season to another series she likes this year. Don't know how much that helps you, but there's my 2 cents.

Getting my brother the Sonic Adventure soundtrack. Getting my significant other (XD; I love that term) 2 volumes of the Ragnarok manga. Getting my friend Pocky and Ramune. Taking pictures and making prints of them for my parents.

Well, I have two brothers on CAA, so if I were getting something for them, I wouldn't say what.

I got my mom a stuffed animal lamb that they were selling at the Christian bookstore I work at. Man, I wish I had a picture of it--it's really cute!
We're trying to get an air compressor for my dad, but I'll see how that turns out...
For my pastors, I'm just giving them a card with some money in it.
Everyone else is just getting a card, if anything at all. They might get something, but I'll be gone for Christmas, so I don't really see a point in getting anything special.
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone
And so hold on when there is nothing left in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!' ...you'll be a Man, my son!

yay! my family decided that we weren't going to buy gifts for each other this year.... mostly because some of us can't afford it.... (like me)... but even still, it's so nice to not have to worry about shopping and all that.... so needless to say, i'll be writing alot of letters and hand made christmas cards this year. yay!

Let's start by saying that every gift is a piece of your heart. Price tag has "NADA" to do wtih it.

I'm going in with my other sibbies to buy gift. Actually, I'm done with my shopping. *does victory dance*
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Hmmm, let's see...

I'm getting presents for my circle of gal friends back home. They're young single working ladies (about 23 years old like me) so the presents include cooking equipment (the cool gadgets), books, working suits, handbags, jewelry, nice tops, Bath and Body stuff.

My family doesn't care for gifts and neither does my bf and other close friends. I'm still thinking about their presents though.

I'm planning to treat myself with an artbook and some CDs for Christmas.

Thanks that really helps make me feel better. :P

What am I getting some of my friends? Well first, a few of my friends may end up checking out this thread so I wont say. But honestly, I still haven't decided what yet. I never know what a good gift is. I know it'll be from my heart, but I just don't know. I just hope they like it, whatever it is.

Maybe I could do some kind of artistic and non valuable thingy...
Wow you all gave me inspiration. I'll do a background with photoshop with rock and roll bands he likes, I'll bring it to some place to print it and make a glass cover so he can hung it up on the wall.

Artistic, cheap, and hum... cool.

Ah I am too poor to getting anything or buy anything to anyone but that is not what so important the important thing is that Christ Jesus was born and take a way all of our sins even those deep one so as in the season of Christmas I would reflect on that thought.

I personally think that christmas is more of a symbol of love and peace upon the family and friends who gathers up at christmas than a religious or commercial thing.

Even if at the base it was religious, I know a lot of non-christian family who celebrate christmas. But it stil isnt just for the gifts, you know.
