calculators

EDIT: holy crap, something amazing happened today

Im updating this after school, 2 days ago, when i returned the calculator to the principals secretary, but today, she told me to come to her office, and she said that I could strike a deal with her, with that same calculator (ti-83 plus, my temporary replacement) i could buy it from them for only 25 dollars!. Thats so awesome! I just realized that like, God just gave me a blessing, and i was like "woah!!!"

Gods so awesome isn't he?

hey, approx a month ago, i believe my calculator (ti-83 plus) was stolen, i reported it, but never got it back. So from then to now, ive been using my principal's caculator, but he took it back 2 days ago. And I need a caluclator, but i do not want to buy another one, (no money) NOR having my mom to buy me another one. What should I do? Should I break the news to her? Becasue she'll get mad at me and explain that I was careless and such, and I don't like her yelling at me. So.... should I tell her? Becasue I NEED a ti-83 for school....

Bite the bullet and tell her SmartyPants. Perhaps you deserve a little bit of a tongue lashing for being careless, and you need the calculator. Either that or learn to do with out - like in the old days. I think I still have a slide rule you could use.

its not that, its the fact that she has to spend like 80 more dollars for it =( i suppose its better to tell though

Don't be so hard on Mr. Smarty Pants. How is having his calculator stolen being careless? Anyway, yeah tell your mum what happened and hope she understands.

I didn't intend to be hard on him, but two things come to mind.

1) He needs the calculator, so he needs to tell his mother so he can get one.
2) Unless he was mugged or his pocket was picked, then he probably could have avoided loosing it if he was just a little more careful. Anyone, myself included even at my own age, should expect some scolding when we make a mistake that costs both him and the people around time, inconvenience, and/or money.

I do apologize if I've offended you, MSP. I do hope that any scolding you do receive will be well within what is appropriate for the situation.

Now, how often do we see conflicts resolved so nicely? Seriously, though, gentlement, it is a sight for sore eyes.

Meanwhile, I would agree with them in telling you that you should tell your mother. While you could probably get by on a lot of things without a TI83 (it is what I use when necessary) I understand that some forms of math simply are not practical on paper.

Indeed! God works wonders, even in math department :D

[edit] Maybe it means God wants you to do more maths? I think I heard someone say that if physics was the language of 20th century, math is the language for 21st...

If Maths is the language of the 21st century, I'm stuffed!! (lol)
I'm really bad at maths and I dislike it with a vengance. Art and English are more my thing. And I like some aspects of Science like Astronomy and Forensic Science.
