I just moved my desk at work from one building to another. It was a pain, but I got to move to a window seat!
For four years, I've sat in a room devoid of windows. Even though the weather often isn't the greatest here in oHIo, I do think it is good and healthy to be able to look outside once in a while.
Anyway, the window seat comes with a price. As all who live North of the Mason Dixon can tell you (you Texans will just have to bare with me), November brings about more than Armistice Day and Thanksgiving. The weather starts to get cold. The highs this week in North East oHIo are in the 50's and the giant window that is right behind me knows little of the art of insulation.
Termyt: Mr Window, would you mind holding in a little more of the heat?
Window: Pardon?
Termyt: Well, it's a little chilly in here - my handy desk top thermometer says it's 64 degrees.
Window: Pardon?
Termyt: Hmph. You see...*long explanation of thermodynamics*...so, how about it?
Window: Pardon?
Termyt: Grrr.
However, the human spirit can not be defeated by a mere window and the second law of thermodynamics. I got me a portable heater! I hung it below my desk and I must say it is nice and toasty here, now. I have a window and I have heat, and I am very thankful for both!
What are you thankful for?
