In the one on-line community I visit the people of the US portion of the site hold "moots" where they meet in a restaurant and just chat. The West Coast has their own moot and the East Coast as well. Has anyone in CAA ever tried to have such a moot? Off course this place has thrice as much members as that other club so it would be a massive undertaking, but have you considered it?

we've considered meetings and pizza parties... problem is we're all so spread out, and have such a range of schedules and ages that it would end up being horribly difficult.

Um, what's the difference between a "moot" and an eyeball/meet?

What on earth is an eyeball / meet?
Well, they got the term "moot" from Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, the book that is. When the ents meet, they use the term "Moot", as in Ent Moot.

An eyeball is when you set a time and place in real-life to meet for the first time with someone you have known only through the Internet or only through cellphone texting. You're finally "eyeballing" the person. A meet is a more general term for getting together; eyeballs usually refer to first-time meets. Anyway, those are pretty old terms, which is why I was wondering what the difference was.
Oh, the Ent Moot. Makes sense.

Regardless of terms, no, I have not. Perhaps such will happen at Fanime 2005, where it is likely a number of CAA members will be present. But we shall see; as has been said before, the disparity of schedules and locations makes the entire business rather difficult.

Well, a Moot would refer to a large organized gathering as opposed to two or three meeting in a club after hours for the first time. But I think I like Moot best.
