Most people would say guns hands down. but there is much to be talked about. for instants getting out of the way before the person can shoot off the gun. unless of course he's experience.or block a bullet(Impossible or not?). you decide.

I live in the south. So, of course I'm gonna say guns! Swords are more symbolic.

My favorite gun is my good 'ol 12-gauge pump-action or the M1 Garand.

Nethier i perfer a quarter staff.
Guns would win. Even in Kenshin he had trouble with an old gatling gun.

I have to agree with Zal-Utaon III, i'll take a staff any day! But if I really have to pick then i'll go with a sword hands down  !

The M1 is good, but Link obviously has never fired any Mauser rifle. Eh... neither have I for that matter.

Hey, I like the Mauser, but I prefer a semi over a bolt-action and if I'm gonna pick a bolt-action, I'd take the springfield '03. BTW, I like my guns to be made in the USA!

Haha... Knowledge wins battles. Better weapons win. A gun is more advanced than a sword. but then weapons of mass destruction beats that. What will man come up with next?
Like what was the story?? the iron master in japan or something that couldn't be hurt by weapons and all (he was real conditioned) but when the british or who ever came on thier iron boats... well he found his mastery couldn't stop bullets and was shot dead. sad.

Guns are cool. Swords are cool. I like them both, for different reasons.

May I point ou that kenshin wasn't even half his speed of when he is at his battousi levle and that if he was. con rei u wouldnt have even gotten a shot of kenshin would cut the gun to peices before he could even pick a target.

Yeah, that's what I thought before I started learning the katana. There's something really unnerving about whipping a live blade around, especially when there's another one facing you. That's when I decided to learn the katana with a boken (wooden katana).

As for swords vs guns, I guess it would depend on if we're talking real life or not. If it's fictional, I prefer swords for a few different reasons. First of all, swords are cool and usually go along with fantasy - which is my favorite genre. Second, they're a lot more fun to draw. Third, I almost know what I'm talking about when it comes to types of swords. When people start putting decimals and numbers and types of guns together - I'm lost. I know the difference between a pistol, a shotgun, and an uzi. That's about the extent of it.

swords are definetly mi favourite since i take fencing (trying to take kendo to) but if i had to pick a gun it would be a a semi automatic 12 gauge over under shotgun :thumb:

you forgot one thing in your discription of firearms, some are recoil operated and some are gas fed and a very few are a combination of the two.

now about wich is better guns or swords, im going to have to say guns 90% of the time gus are easyer to use and maintain and you dont have to pay tons of money to get one. theyre biggest draw back is you have to pay for ammo, i would think it would be cool to master the sword just because if people see you carry a sword in your car they think its cool but if you have a gun they automaticly think your some kinda redneck out to shoot whoever dosent agree with you,

personally i like the 9mm its probaly the most reliable round for an automatic, and therefore good for self defence perposes,

Well, I figure that I am just required to post something in this forum. My answer really depends on the situation.

If I'm playing a game, I'll go with whichever weapon is better. If I have an equal sword and gun, I'll go with the sword every time. Swords lend themselves so much better to action sequences, in my humble opinion (me loving fight coreography).

In real life? Neither. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Though the gun would be the more deadly alternative.

all in all the "gun" would be the best choice in almost an situation.

take the 7.62x38 m-43 round for the ak-47.light recoil, smallish round, yet an can go threw a wall,or a car doors with ease and still be leathel.used in the ak-47 it has a range of aprox. 350 meters ,and the abilitry to punch threw a lev 3 balistic vest at that range.at close range us can use fully auto fire to engage large groups of targets ,add to it a 75 round rpk drum, and you have a good deal of fire power.

the .308 round (7.62 nato) that the m-14 uses is even more powerfull, though the weapon is much more heavy.with a scope and a match grade berrel engaging targets at 600 meters isnt a huge issue at all, making it a nice semi auto sniper rifle.the us forces use a reconfigured m-14 for sniping/coutersniping called an m-21.

i own bolth an ak-47(slr-95 civilian version) and an m-14
along with many others.so i know i tiny bit about em

the last thing ill say,and i hope this isnt a touchy subject ,is the japanese in ww2 answered the question.the bonzai charge proves which is better...1000 dedicated men with fixed bayonets and swords...or a heavely armed mechinegun laden defender.
no one can doubt the bravery and skill of the japanses soldeirs in those charges, but nothing could make up for a rain of automatic fire.
in war the "gun" rains supreem.
sure you can come up with odd situations in personal combat were a sword might be more effective, but there is a reason why people rob banks with guns...they work

*ill tell ya what though...there aint nothing in this world as great a feeling,as wielding cold steel effective or not :thumb: **

cool m-14, ive heard thats the best rifle made unmodified, and very reliable, i personaly only own one rifle a 50.cal kentucky rifle muzzle loader, very accurate and powerfull. it doesnt have the range or power of a modern rifle but it really did surprise me how good it actully was ive put a ball through 4 inces of pine at 50 yards :thumb:

did anyone know that it's possible to make a gun absolutely out of lego pieces, without any additional 'custom' pieces? which actually does work, like it shoots objects?

i have one in my hand :) it's so cool...

i prefer katanas, thankyou. i think it takes more talent to weild a sword than shoot a gun.

besides, i have an abnormal fear of loud noises (like construction zones, lawnmowers, rototillers, weedeaters, gun shots, etc) so i avoid loud things.
