Drifting BABY!! over at my other forum, Nissan Forums they have been talkin about if drifting is just a fad that like pokemon, came from japan and is dead ( sorry if this offends someone =]) or a real honest to goodness venue for companys to invest?

personaly i love drifting , but certain laws keep me from doing so ( except in mexico =] )

thats why im savin up for my personal drift mobile, a 1998 240 SX with a sr20dett redtop engine suited for runs at Irwindale ( 20 min away from where i live , w00t! )

so, fad or no? and what would you drift in?

I believe it's racing where the point isn't just to win...but to win in STYLE. Power-sliding is the name of the game. I think it's cool enough to stay, and merit a videogame or two.

Drifting has been in America for a looong time... just not *cough* err.. uhh... legal.

As for it becoming an actual lasting sport here, like Japan... it's pretty possible... plenty of interest, I’d say. And the video game industry is jumping on it... PGR and NFS: Underground.

As for myself, I'd like to give it a shot... looks fun enough. But, I'm crazy....

yep, but power sliding is braking while turning which causes loss in speed ( yeah these guys race as well )

some the proffesinals dont break which is cool, they gain speed by turning

looks like a good way to get killed, esspecilly when theres more than one car out there on the track.

yeah thats true, there a sick accident out at Irwindale when D1 was goin on, an RX-7 hit the wall and flew.

Anywho, I like to drift... in Burnout 3. then I run into stuff... and crash.

Drifting and Street racing are dangerous many youth in my state of Washington has been hurt because of such behavior.

Drifting is really fun i do it quite a bit with my friends cars.. my little truck inst the best thing in the world but it still works all you have to do is put it in neutral...ooooohh you have a 240sx?? my friend has one with imported engine from japan with tuneable suspension etc..oh wait nvm you said your saving up for it..well what do you drift in then and no offense but arent you a little young to be drifting...even going to mexico.. who are you with when you go there?

I remember back when I was into street racing I always though drifting would be cool to do, since it requires a good amount of skill behind the wheel. It still looks like lots of fun its' just the car I have now is in no way built for making extremely tight corners.

Drift is better than Drag though.

I don’t think they call it ‘drifting’, but a friend of mine from my old church gets together once a month with guys form all over the state to race on road courses. Of course, the courses are all blocked off, so it’s not just like street racing, but people generally bring their supped up cars. He has a Dodge Stealth that he ‘tricked out’ and a really cool old Triamph (not sure if I spelt that right), you know, the one with only one seat and the single passenger rolebar. Very cool.

I don’t know a lot about cars, but its fun to see none-the-less.

true dat, but most of my friends hondas cant handle that much so they drag instead.
my town is notorius for street racing but its all 3/4 mile.

and yeah in Mexico thers nor alot of pavement so its just a lot of powersliding in the dirt =]

HAH! a honda to drag!?!? LOL sorry that is sad...or actually what kind of honda well still haha ooohhhh its dirt i see thats cool...drifting is soooo much easier to do in dirt.. btw what kind of car is it?
