A word of Christian advice ^_^

I've recently heard a lot of people say Christians can do anything they want to as long as its "legal" by man's laws... I for one disagree, we are supposed to follow God's word. For example, pre-martial sex, its perfectly okay by the laws of the land as long as someone is over 18, BUT, thats not something that God wants. On a more extreme example, following other religions, thats perfectly okay by the laws of the land, but obviously thats not something God's wants us doing.
... I'm not trying to opppse anything on you, I'm just trying to say, even though something might be legal by our laws, before you do something, check if its okay with Him by looking at His word.

i agree, the world says alot of things are ok, but their wrong most of the time, we need to obey God first.

I guess you frequent different Christian circles than I do (I haven't seen this promoted recently).

And conversely, at some times the law of the land will command things that are contrary to God's law. A Christian's choice is quite clear.
Note: this has a chance (admittedly low) of becoming a theological argument. I feel certain you all know such would be closed.

Yes I agree... in call cases we should follow God.

Besides, different places in the world have different laws so youd never know what to do

I agree that God's laws and expectations come before the laws of the land where we live. Different countries have different laws and standards, too. What's legal in one place is often illegal in another. Just because one group of people says something is allowed, doesn't mean that it's right. If we were meant to only obey what our own individual societies accept, there wouldn't be much unity in that. The focus would be way wrong, too. Our focus should be on what God wants, not what the world wants. The world doesn't understand everything. God does.

That's most definitely true...The Bible's clear in many areas that God's laws and will are to take precedence over everything. They are the only way to live a truly fulfilled life.
However, we are most definitely called to be obedient towards earthly and secular governments if not for our own well-being then most definitely to set a good Christian example to non-believers. The exception to this is if the law is an obvious contradiction to God's standards of acceptable behavior. God's laws tend to cover all areas of life, from the financial to the social to anything you can think of, while the secular world has no jurisdiction over telling people how to live their private lives. Therefore, it's really pointless for anyone, especially Christians, to resort to a socially moral worldview that says "if it ain't getting me arrested, it doesn't make me a bad person..." Divorce, illegitimate births, teen pregnancy, STD's, adultery and abortion are not going to get you thrown in prison, but do any of those sound like a good outcome to you? Didn't think so.
