I'm posting this for Graceful Rocker, because her mom probably deleted her account.

The story behind it is that her mom has been watching too much of the news and has been getting paranoid. She's absolutely convinced that there are cyber stalkers on this site.

Anyways, G-rocker really enjoyed her time here, and she wishes to thank the members of this wonderful board.

That's it. I'm about to snap. Yet another person has surrendered to fear. (GR's mom.) Bowling for Columbine made me aware of just how dependant on fear we have become. Now I won't downplay their existance, but there could be a single internet stalker in a hundred thousand people, but if he's there, the media will pounce on him and make us think he's around every corener. This must be changed. I'll do everything I can to return Graceful Rocker to the CAA. I'll make it my personal mission to return one of us taken away by fear, and do my best to keep any more from being lost to it. Wow, I sound noble. Whatever. I have a mission! *Fireproof goes off to begin his mission*

I -highly- doubt there are any stalkers on this site, considering our rules about not giving out personal info. also, you may not see us on the boards a lot, but we are monitoring activity.

as always...if someone asks for your personal info on the site, even if it's via PM, do not give it out. that's the rule. if you feel like someone from CAA is invading your privacy, you need to contact a staffer immediately.

Graceful Rocker, you'll be missed!

That's sad...and on one of the only places on the internet that's really wholesome and safe. You'd think people would encourage their children to find places like this. We'll miss her for sure.

I understand her mom's fear, but if you think about it, there are creeps everywhere, not just the internet. But I won't get upset at her for that; it may be a little bit too much but she's just concerned for her child's safety...I guess...

I'd be more concerned with my kid going to the mall than going on an internet site...oh well.

Please, let's be respectful of her mom (even though many disagree with her decision), in reference to some of the posts above.

Just like Shiroi said, if you believe someone is trying to get at your personal information or is harassing/stalking you, tell one of us right away so we can get to the bottom of it.

thiers just some parents who are just over-protective at times. Take my friends mom, he can't go outside or anywhere (besides any chruch activities) without his nametag which has his name, adress, and phone number. Also he can't go anywhere if thiers no adult present, and he must call back every half-and-hour to update her. He's I think 15 or 16.

His mom is very paranoid (he has I think 6 siblings so ...who knows). Also his mom must talk to my mom or whoever elses mom for a while to make sure everything is ok. His dad is cool though, a fun guy to be around.

My parents are pretty lenient on my internet stuff. They trust me and recently I put on a blocker of porn sites just in case.

About my friend again, he can only view 2 sites. Our church's site and a homeschooling site. Other than that, no email, no IM, no nothing. Kinda sad.

Sorry you have to go Graceful Rocker. I hope you can join us again soon.

Anyhow...it's sad when someone has to leave, but remember, someday we'll see them again, even if we have to wait until they're 18 or something. I know that she'll be trying her hardest to get back on here, but there is not much we can do.

Yes, Cyber-Stalkers exist, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone on here is masquerading as one. I always keep one thing in mind when I post...I pretend that someone on this forum is trying to track me down and kill me and that I don't know who they are, that there's no way to find out. Keep that mentality and all should go well.

I'm cooling it. *Is lowered into a vat of ice-cold water, steam rises from him as he enters* It's just that stuff like that always ticks me off, whether it's justified or not. *Takes a deep breath* Okay, I'm better. *Tries to get out of water, but sees that it has frozen solid around him* Oh, crud.

...I can't stand people that are paranoid like that. It's more than just concern...it's a mentality. People who are THAT scared have a problem that needs medical attention. I understand her concern for her child, but it's a bit much. It would be pretty hard to track someone if they don't give out their name, address, phone number, something like that. And if someone is idiotic enough to go meet a person from an internet site while their alone, then...they're just stupid.

Anyway, GR will be missed.

yeah, when I was a teenager (by that I mean 13-17, really) my parents were really freaked out by the concept of me talking to anyone online... I would have NEVER been allowed in a place like CAA, if they had known about it. Now that I'm an adult, they still don't like it (but yet still wanted me to try eharmony, go figure), but I'm an adult so they just sit back and grind rather than forbid me to do it... I'm very glad about that, because my life would be a lot more pathetic if I wasn't able to come on here... Well, rather, if I was stuck at home AND wasn't able to come on here (I won't be coming on here starting either the 31st of August or the 4th of september depending on my friend)

It's sad, but her parent must be honored
