Hi everybody,
I was just wondering if anyone else here has middle eastern or near eastern heritage. I'm one fourth even though I don't much look it.

I don't believe so, though I'm part Indian. (I can't tell anything else; I don't look like I'm from any specific country.)

Not me! I'm 1/4 Syrian, and the rest of it is so complicated and mixed up I'd probably use up all of the caa's bandwidth trying to post it

Hmm maybe I'm half wolf.
I don't know...I can see in the dark almost impeccably, can recognize my family members by their scents, understand the language of dogs...I'm not kidding. Well sort of. Kidding about wondering about being half wolf, not kidding about the rest.
That was confusing...*laughs*

Syrian is actually one of the things that I was wondering about, Syrian, Lebanese, Iranian, etc. I'm one 1/4 Armenian with a great grandfather from Harpute and a great grandmother from Mt. Ararat then Lebanon. My great grandmother had ~ seven siblings including a blond. I look mostly like the other 3/4 of my heritage.
(Near East-I think of Far west Asia and North Africa, Middle East I think of like Kazakstan through Israel or so, hence both.)
I was wondering if there was anyone one who is, does/did it ever affect how you saw things of the culture that you grew up around?

Well, my Dad's side is a whole jumble of middle-eastern and european ones. O_o but I've been told I don't look like any specific country (which is true). I was born here with most of my family. So i guess my heritage is Canadian?
My last name is Armenian, but I don't really know about it or associate with it... So, I guess, not really for me. (_ _);;

uhh? thank you!!
it's really weird sometimes because my brother has pale skin and green eyes, and then I have kind of darker skin with brown eyes, my little sister has really pale skin with blue eyes, then my littlest sister has a bit lighter skin then mine yet brown eyes. o__o I'm the only one who has gotten a sunburn once in my life!
What is the 3/4 of your heritage? Do you know much about those countries?

Which Indian do you mean? o_O Native American or Indian from India.
My ancestors have lived in America for a while, if I remember correctly. My grandma is a geneologist. I think most of my ancestors were European. I know I'm part Irish and German. I look pretty American, though (that is, if there really is an "American" look).

Through the Spanish blood in me I have Jewish ancestry, which I guess is somewhere around the Middle East. I know my brother was mistaken for an Isreali - which he looks like with his hazel eyes which have a lot of green in them - when he was in Israel. That's about it.

On the Armenian part, because of the history of the region, there might be genetic reason for the almost Persian look of my great grandmother and the almost part Mongol look of my great grandfather.
On the Finnish great grandparent's side, there may be some Estonian if you go far enough back. I also had a Swedish great grandparent.
On the other half, There is a lot of Scotch Irish. There is a good amount of English in me, but the Scottish in me won't admit that. There is a little bit of Dutch and in the 1600's some French who left for the British Isles. There is a small amount of Danish. I don't know how much, but there was a 10th century Danish nobleman.
I know a few little bits here and there about those places.

I meant, part American Indian, part Cherokee...
Eh, I don't look Indian at all though! *laughs*
I know I have some European in me too though. Not much, however.
Man, I wish I was 1/2 human, 1/2 timber wolf...*daydreams*

It might be silly saying this, but I am so happy that quite some people here have really mixed backgrounds! In my school almost everyone has definite backgrounds!
In geography class my teacher went around the whole class asking "what is your background?" "Philipino" "Japanese and Chinese" "Hong Kong" "Spain" "Peru" "South Korea" it comes to me... I didn't know what to say, because I am mixed! So I just blurted out "I don't know!" and everyone started laughing! o__o I hope I don't say something like that again!
Oh, I'm sorry that was off topic. I was wondering, did any one carry the heritage and culture from their background(s)? (I did not... once again, I think too mixed)

I agree about mixed heritage. It's great, and fun. I do wish that culture was appreciated more, especially, I'm sorry, among white Europeans, but also in general.
What exactly do you think that culture is? I don't think that my heritage influences my da-to-day life in a significant way, but I listen to the music, eat a couple of the foods, am slightly more away of some of the historic art, and stuff like that. I think of my self as Arctic/Scandinavian, Celtic, Middle-eastern/Armenian. I think that this does have a certain effect on how I see myself.
Did you know that the Finns speak a non-Indo-Earopean language? They also were not actually Viking but had a similar culture.
