I am leaving CAA

Talk about anything in here.

I am leaving CAA

Postby uc pseudonym » Thu Jul 15, 2004 10:51 am

...for five days.

Beginning tomorrow, I will be absent from CAA for five days. These days will be spent attempting to plug into what God is doing in Waco, Texas. I will be officially with Mission Waco. The plan is to do service all morning, Street Camp in the afternoon and more service in the evening. It is possible there will be built-in days for sight-seeing, which would sadly extend the five day period.

Through no fault of my own I ended up in charge of the 10-12 age bracket for all of Street Camp. This is quite annoying, because the cirriculum we have been given (which is mean to be sketchy to allow for flexibility) seems to randomly pair themes, bible stories and verses with no particularly connection. Plus, I don't want to have to go to the effort of earning the respect of these children, which I will have to do if I want any chance to connecting with them in any way, shape or form. But I trust that God will use me as I should be used. I'm not really asking for prayer on this, but if you already pray for me, now you know more specificly.

I state this so that no one who asks me any questions will be concerned as to why they do not receive answers, the situations in which I have obligations will be notified of the delay and hopefully so that I am not asked to do anything time-sensitive (making threads, changing names, etc). God bless all of you in my absence, as He has done in my presence.

You did scare me with the title for a second (literally), but then I thought about it and realized you had to be kidding. Upon opening the thread, my suspicions were confirmed. :)

May God bless your time at the camp. I hope it is at least somewhat enjoyable for you. I'll be praying for you.

Ah, so this is the general thread you mentioned. Anyway....

So, goin' to Waco, are you, UC? If you do have time for any sightseeing, there isn't really that much there... But the Dr Pepper Museum is always worth a look (This is coming from a girl who drinks as much Dr Pepper as Elric_kun drinks Mountain Dew).

XD UC got put in charge of 10-12 year olds. Why am I suddenly having flash-backs to Naruto, Volume one?
Well, don't worry, Master UC. I'm sure you'll do great. ^^ My thoughts, prayers, and best wishes go with you, my friend.

Now that I have a question I will respond to this thread in full.

Initially, my thanks to those of you who wished me well or said they would pray for me.

I will pray for your heart attack, oldphilosopher.

Actually, the 10-12 age bracket is the highest level they offer Street Camp for. I very intentionally got myself into that group. What I never intended to do was end up in charge of the thing (but no, I had to offer an idea during the planning session). It shouldn't be that bad.

You're just so darn helpful, aren't you, UC? *grin* And it definitely won't be bad. If the kids misbehave, you can always tie them to a stump and take away their lunch.

Best wishes and have a good time.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

(I got so scared too. I feel as if I swallowed my own throat, if that's possible. o__O;; And then the hover-over finally came, showing the first phrases of thread, "...for five days" Please don't do that again.)

Actually, Azeir, I created a false leaving thread two days before you created yours, quite some time back. We merely used different subforums.

I must issue a correction, because one has been issued for me: I will be gone from CAA seven days total. Unfortunate, but unavoidable.

Frankly, I was not shocked by the title of this thread since I remember uc pseudonym previously mentioning in another thread about visiting Waco, Texas.

However, the signs of worries and heart attacks by oldphilosophers should indicate how much we care about you, uc pseudonym.

Oh, a side-note.

Now, I find this shocking. Regardless, it is compliment made by a young lady, and so I should accept it.

Have fun, uc pseudonym.

Oh, just some advice to everyone looking at this thread. When a person demonstrates initiative, people tend to interpret that the person has leadership potential. That is probably why uc pseudonym was rewarded with being in charge with the young age group. He showed initiative by suggesting an idea.
