Well to ease the pain of Gas prices move to Squamish, B.C. and you will see that the Gas is $0.99/L.

...yeah I remember it like a month ago when it was about .99 over here... I'm guessing it'll be close to about 1.20 today :/

Being that Labor Day is like the closing to the Summer Season. AAA is saying that gasoline use will drop and soo there will be more reserves of gasoline,BUT with the damage to the delivery system of pumps and pipe lines from the Gulf States we may still have to show reserve in buying gasoline. Prices may drop but not too much. I hope the government pushes to move more quickly to have more vehicles to run on fuels that don't depend on oil.
Fuel cells are one way, propane, electric even waste products fuels like cooking oil (MMMMMMMM FRIES) or what ever can be made into fuel.

it costs i think in my town between $2.89 ad 3.00 but i heard the other day that in okc it was like $3.10 and yeah i know im gonna sound old but ... *sigh* when i was a little girl you could buy gas for atleast 50-75 cents maybe less

It's on average $2.70-$2.98 here by my college. But I was in Ft. Worth this weekend and I saw gas for around $2.65 outside the city.

Or your college is 30 miles from where you live. Some people don't have the luxury of public transportation. Within a big city, it's all well and good, but for a guy like me who lives in Virginia and commutes to class five days a week, buses and the like aren't really an option, y'know?

Anyway, prices have gone down SLIGHTLY since a few days ago, it's now 3.15 instead of 3.29...though on the way to the RDU airport today, I saw it for 2.99.

Gas price average has dropped. Most places average about 2.89, and the place I work at is still 2.72. Thanks goodness I'm scheduled more days inside next week as a cashier. So many people complain and blame me for the price... X_X

For a point of comparison, I rode the bus and train (the San Diego Trolley in this case) my first year of college when I didn't have a car -- about ten months all told. It was inexpensive (around $20 something a month for an unlimited use pass), but I had to be at the train station at 5:40am to get to class by 8:30 (the bus arrived at the south end of campus around 8:15 or so), and had to switch from the trolley to the express bus downtown which was anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes of downtime in the process. This was a distance of, when I got my car my second year, around 25 miles which took me about a half hour behind the wheel.

I went to fill up on Thursday, and there were lines all the way out to the street. They had some of the store workers out there directing traffic, and if anyone took too long at the pumps, people would get out of their cars and glare at them. I was afraid this one lady who lost her card was going to get jumped. They were really mad.

Wow. I haven't seen anything remotely like that here; there haven't been any runs on the pumps. I'm *very* thankful for our university's bus pass system, which gives us a full year bus pass for ~$60.

You pay less for a galon, then the average European pays for one litre (which is like 1/4 of a galon or something).

You guys have the cheapest petrol prices in the 'western' world (which arguably is due to the regular 10 year exhibition to the gulf for various reasons), and also as a side note use over 1/2 of the worlds petrol anyhow.

The world serisouly needs to consider sustainable energy or they're stuffed.

This caught my eye... I've done some calculations, and here in Aussie it is the equivalent (taking into consideration x-change rates and gallon-litre calculations) to $4.07 a gallon (we pay ~ 1.4 AUS a litre)

MOST countries don't tax like we do. If you use the roads, you'll likely buy gas - so they tax the pusholine. I'd be interested to see a study done of hybrid sales in countries with the highest taxes...

Why don't we just use the vast amounts of oil here in our own country? Is there a real reason for that? Or is it to politcal to get an answer here?

It's getting close to $3.50 for the cheap stuff here now.

Without stating my personal beliefs or getting into politics, the main reason why the majority of oil in the US hasn't been drilled is many of it is underneath wildlife preserves and the like, especially true in Alaska.

At any rate, it has dropped to 2.95 here, not as good as I'd like it to be, but certainly better than over three bucks.

It's three times that much now, and that was BEFORE the fuel spike.

Fortunately, the University provides free bus stickers for students living within a 10mi radius (actually, the stickers are available to everyone, but the sticker is only usable within a certain radius).

Maybe now people will take alternative energy sources seriously. Fortunately, I've been on holiday for a while so I hadn't needed driving. I think the two most likely candidates in this century are biodiesel and hybrids. Unfortunately, biodiesel 1). is available only in limited areas and 2). only works on DIESEL engines. Not to mention, diesel cars have horrendous horsepower (my friend had to floor it to go up a not-so-steep hill and only went, at best, 20mph).

If only it were possible to trade in one's car for the purchase of a diesel car or a hybrid! Car companies would make more money, and people would save on gas (or fill up with an easily renewable energy source in the case of biodiesel). The only people who would lose in that case are wealthy Arab despots.

(Of course, remember that I AM a dude on the internet and you should quote me on any of this).
