fashion fads you... never really understood^^

Talk about anything in here.

Postby Nightshade X » Mon May 15, 2006 6:34 pm

Hmm... fashion that I never really understood...

The whole hip-hop style. Confused? Let me clarify:

This is my issue:
Fitted baseball caps with a completely flat bill (that still have the tags and stickers on them),
large, gaudy, fake diamond earrings (ON MEN!!),
those stupid fake diamond, plastic chains with some stupid thing dangling from it,
huge watches with obviously fake diamonds on them,
t-shirts that go all the way down to the knees,
basketball or football jerseys that, coincidentally, also go down to the knees;
baggy pants that are (minimum) 3 sizes too big and worn at mid-thigh or at the knees,
white shoes that they almost religiously clean (what, shoes can't be scuffed?)

Aside from that, I HATE thongs!!!! I can't emphasize that enough. That and pants cut low enough that they're supposed to emphasize the fact that a woman is wearing a thong. ENOUGH!!! Leave us guys that don't want to look alone!!!

Then there's the combo of Uggs and those frilly, lacy mini-skirts... strike that. Uggs and any mini-skirts. I mean, Uggs are acceptable if they're done right (for the most part, they're NOT!). Mini-skirts, however... no. They should not ever exist. I don't care how well-kept a girl's body is.

And bikinis... I always thought that one-pieces were so much more attractive on a woman... with a sarong that covers the lower region... that would be so much better than a bikini, but most people won't agree with me.

I know I have a lot more to complain about, but that'll have to come at a later time. I've forgotten much of it, anyway. :lol:

Ugg boots are cool and they're ours. Thongs are cool too, but I'm guessing your not talking about 'thongs' in the sense I know them but 'flip flops'?

Umm. . . . Sorry, I'm confused-- exactly which type of thongs are you saying are cool, W4J?
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

I suppose I should have been more clear. By thong, I meant the underwear, not the shoe.

I don't mean recent ones that are comfortable to wear. Those look pretty cool. I mean the for-real deal [see a little flick called Pirates of the Caribbean]. Those kinds of corsets. Not only are they impractical in general, but Kiera Knightley don't need no corset. XD

As to the comment about Sharpies through the ears . . . there was a guy in my Scout troop who once, at lunch during summer camp, put a whole set of silverware in his ear [the handles only, but they hung there]. I thought it was pretty funny, if a little disturbing [why would you want to do that to your ears?]

Black one-piece swimsuits on girls are darned awesome. Especially if they have a large print across the middle. Darned awesome.

For some reason, I find modest shirts that reveal the shoulders on girls to be beautiful in a completely pure way. I dunno. Just me, I guess.

Oh, and don't wear a midriff-baring shirt and low rise jeans if you're going to have a roll sticking out over your waistband. Don't do it. In fact, don't wear the short shirts at all. I don't mind the jeans so long as you buy long shirts to keep yourself covered.

Don't know if this was mentioned yet (I'm not gonna go back and read all 8 pages... meh) but I've seen some people stick combs in their hair and walk around like that. It looks dorky, to be honest.

My mom does the same thing. Evidently undergarment 'thongs' as we know 'em are a product of the younger North American generation, because my mom and her friends always go on about wearing, losing, buying, etc. thongs and they get confused whenever their kids start to look really, really disturbed :lol:

I was at a concert last weekend when I saw these girls who had the butt ripped out of their jeans. I almost stopped to let them know that they had a hole in their pants before I realized that it was done on purpose.

If they had really ripped their pants the pockets or the seam would have torn, not the entire back. One girl was either wearing a thong or no underwear at all. I couldn't tell, since her buttcheeks were showing.

It was both terribly funny and saddening at the same time.

That's... pretty bad :/ Not cool at all either and if they wanted to show off their booty, they should've gone to a beach or something :/ I've personally yet to (but hope not to^^) see that :/

Eek, those jeans sound pretty bad. I remember there was a girl at my college who had several smaller rips in the seat of her pants, but that's now sounding downright decent next to completely butt-less pants O_O

That reminds me, I had a customer at my store once who was walking around with his jeans completely ripped open on the back, with his underwear and everything showing.

Not something I really wanted to see. :drool:

For some reason i think some of it looks okay... though it also depends on the personality of the person too. But austin does have a lot of older hippies too ^_^

Yeah I don't care for that hip hop style either; both the ridiculously long shirts and flat ball caps w/ stickers. I can say that really annoys me a lot. I remember last semester when I volunteered w/ a after school program some of the kids wore those long shirts. I looks horrible.

Aside from that, the other thing I really don't care for are those high dollar already cut jeans w/ holes in them (abercrombie, buckle, AE or whatever). I'm all for the relaxed bootcut jeans that aren't too baggy and a nice polo shirt, but pre-cut jeans really annoy me. It seems like a waste of money in a sense.

I guess the last thing I can think is when guy have those huge bi-fold wallets and have them sticking way out of their back pockets. I sense a pickpocket in their near future....

It's kinda weird when you see a woman in one of those tube shirts (whatever you girls call them) and a really short sweater thingie (basically just a pair of sleeves), with a stripe of skin showing between them. Well, it's not really funny from the front, but from the back, it really looks like a rugby shirt.

My weird fashion of the day. (for yesterday, actually.)

Here's one I'll add that I was thinking about today: punk as a fashion.
Lots of people wear it because it's (WAS) "unique" or it just plain looks cool, but the funny thing is I bet ya not many of those who wear it or just "pose" when they wear it, know the true meaning of what it is to wear punk. Ask anyone and ifthey say "rebellion" not 100% right since it's a lot more political than that^^ Won't get into it that much, I just think it's funny if they wear something they don't really understand^^ I honestly think some people can pull off wearing it and even being it but some... just can't^^ Taking preppies as an example it just shouldn't be...

Here is my things:
:rant:
1) Those eye patches called "Bikinis"
2) Crocks (those slip on plastic "fake'n stocks" with whole through them. They are such a fade that we are required to wear them in the the nursing field!)
3) Leather- unless its a jacket, and you are dressed up PLEASE dont wear it.
4) Booty shorts/ Booty skirts/ thongs/g-strings- I dont want to see that hairy, white as chalk, pasty cream, bouncy, jello giggle-TON thing. Trust me on this I dont want to see your butt when you bend over(or what you have in it.)
5) Tighs with shorts? What??? Are we going back in time to Nylon's and shorts too? The year 1981...
6) People who wear under sized clothes when they are over sized for it. That is just plain tacky. If you wish to wear it- wear it not tear it (sorry old school moto that we used.)
7) Holes in the pants- DUDE! I know you can wear out your pants- but please dont buy them already wore to shreds. Waste of money when right down the street is a threft store with the same pair- but orginal with out the "hair butt holes."
8) Yeah Ugg Boots- and boots that are retilain(sp) ew....
9) Your dr`aws- wear some pants! Wait you are? WHY THEY ARE AROUND YOUR ANKLES! Oh they do pull up! Let me get my torch and weld them on so that doesnt happen again.
- ok, seriously, we use to pull down boy's pants in middle school who use to do it. And I am so tempted now when in College. It's sad really-
10) Make up that you want to go up to the person and scratch their face to see how much they actually have on. An inch or so?

Yeah- I'm sticking with the T-shirts and jeans-fix the hair up, a LITTLE bit of chap stick and you are set. It never grows old.

As some have said, ladies pant/shorts with writing on the bum. But what I have never liked is womens shirts with printing on the chest. As an inveterate reader, they're embarrassing.
