When I said cheating death, I meant in the sense that this technology could be used in an attempt to make our flesh as close to being immortal as possible. For example, when somebody is close to dying all we have to do is send them into this state of suspended animation until a way to counter act what is about to kill them has emmerged. Obviously, this is an impossible goal to reach because eventually the world is going to end and either its going to occur before this ability to "cheat death" is discovered or it will occur sometime after it. Also, I doubt we will be able to preserve somebody in this state for that long, then again, we've found almost perfectly preserved mammoths in ice before, of course, they were dead. One last thing, sin seperates us from God so the reason we die is so we don't have to spend an eternity living without God. Though God never meant for us to die, he also never meant for us to live without him. Physical death, essentially, frees us from our sin nature, so unless your a christian who for some reason doesn't think your going to heaven, you should have no fear of death, since, as the cliche goes, they're greener pastures on the otherside.
