As I told you earlier, it's AWESOME!!! :grin: Would you like to try and make a Christmas avatar for me? :hug:

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

I like all the Christmas-y avatars! I don't know how to edit an avatar though. Prolly cause I don't know much about goofing around on the computer.

Why thank you ^_^ But I'm not quite sure what you mean by "CG'ing skills", I don't know how to CG(whatever that is...). I just found a drawing of a Santa hat on the internet and fixed it up a little. I didn't draw it myself or anything.

I like your avatar, it's cute. :brow:

I'd love to make Edward's already beyond-funky headpiece a Santa hat, but I don't know how to do it either. Plus I'm afraid that if I do, I won't be able to find my original avatar again.

Well... I'm not a huge fan of santa hats because I believe 'Santa Clause' takes away from the real meaning of Christmas. I doubt, though, that me putting up an avatar with Santa on it that said "The Grinch who stole christmas" would go over too well. >.>;;;
LOL, but I think it is cute to see so many of these avatars around. ^^

All jesus ever did was die for our sins, but Santa Clause... he sees us when we're sleeping and depending on weather or not we've been good, rewards us with Earthly posesions! ooo.

Yeah, lol. >.>;;;

Originally, St. Nick was supposed to be a model of charity, helping poor families in times of need, and especially children. His commercial counterpart seems to have forgotten the charity part.

Well, I just wanted to fit in and be popular... :(

*takes off his Santa hat in disgrace.*

It's all about the holiday spirit. I never believed in Santa. I always thought that Santa and other symbols take away from the true meaning of Christmas. What is important is to not loose the true meaning behind christmas-- Jesus. Though funny thing is that He wasn't born in December... The holidays are also around to show the people around you that you generally care for them.

The bible doesn't really give us much information about when He was born - all we know is that it was probably in midwinter. The reason Christmas is celebrated on the 25th is because of a pegan Roman holiday that happened to be on that day.

hmm...without attempting debate(i don't know enough to debate anyhow), I was under the impression that it was NOT winter but rather a warmer time. Can anyone back me up in this?

The date is all together unimportant to Christmas. The key idea is the incarnation of God, not which season it occured in. The early Church decided to put it on the same day as a pagan holiday as a way to phase out the pagan rituals of Rome. It also happens that around the same time the days start to get longer again, symbolizing that the light has come into the world.

As much as I dislike the "commercial" viewpoint of Christmas, I think it's harmless to celebrate by the usual Christmas tradtions (lights, Santa, the tree) if you kep the holidays in the right perspective. By observing the birth of our Savior and not only that but also recognizing that was the start of our salvation. That those tiny little hands that Joseph and Mary held would later be nailed tot he Cross. I se enothing wrong with enjoying Christmas in the commercial stand point but it becomes a wrong thing if that's the only reason you celebrate it.

Umm... i regularly go to three forums besides this, and this is the only one where people use Christmasy avatars... that's maybe because the other forums are all Finnish. A cultural difference, you know.

I can't actually edit my avatar (because this stupid Linux) so don't blaim me.. o__o

Just save your avatar under a different file name.

EXAMPLE: Say your avatar's file name is spoonybard.jpg

Assuming your avatar is already still in your computer with the above mentioned file name, just right click your avatar, and save it under a different file name.

EXAMPLE: spoonybard2.jpg

Then, if you ever change your mind and decide to make a santa hat avatar, you edit the one you want to.
