What do you do on Sunday?

Talk about anything in here.

Postby samurai10 » Wed Jun 29, 2011 11:23 am

My schedule is....

Go to church, sing in the choir.
Attend choir practice.
Go home. Watch a couple of episodes of anime, then take a nap.
Eat lunch.
Go to church again, teach kids how to sing, then sing in a choir at mass again.
Go home. Watch another couple of episodes, take out the trash, eat dinner.
Go back to church again and pray for an hour and a half.
Go home and sleep.

Pretty boring, huh? XD

It's better than David's (Bible) unholy life. He killed people that didn't need to be killed and flirted with people who didn't need to be flirted with.

Thank God your life is clean xD

Dude, you manage to pray for an hour and half? 0.o That's awesome, the longest I've ever gone is 10 minutes. I never know what to say.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Wow...that's pretty long...

My schedule is...

Go to church around 9:30 (service starts at 10:00)
Go home and have family dinner
Watch a movie with the family
Take a nap
Play videogames, watch anime, read a book, talk with family, whatever I usually do during my freetime.

During college, I would go back to the dorms around 7:00 usually with my aunt, but we usually don't get there until 10:00 because we go out to other places to either eat or see her friends. At that time, I would also do some homework that would only take a short period of time to do.

I go to Sunday School at 9:30 --then service at 11:00.

Come home and eat lunch, take a nap if I can, clean/homework/surf.

Go help with youth group at another church from 4-6.

Go home and eat dinner/feed the critters.

Surf some more/do homework/watch a movie/whatever

Go to bed.

It's possible that samurai is Pentecostal(although I don't know. Are you?). Long prayers up front are common in Pentecostal churches.

It could just be prayer meeting. I'm Baptist and we have hour and a half long prayer meetings.
"And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus." The Sabbath

After church, if there's nothing special going on, my family and I come home for lunch, maybe have a couple friends over/go to their house, or go to the library and get some books, but generally just chill out, take a break from any work and have a family day.

We stay off the computer and TV between sundown Friday and sundown Saturday - when I was younger, I didn't really look forward to Saturdays because of that that, but now I don't mind it, I mean, there's six other days for that stuff. I get some reading done, at least, and we usually play board games Friday night.

I was about to try and find a way to post here and say that my day of worship is Saturday, the seventh day of the week, but I guess I was beaten to the punch! I'm pleasantly surprised to see that there are other users here who also worship on the seventh day...

Now, I don't want to sound like I'm preaching to anyone here, but I am a bit interested in what you all think, so I need to say this:

How do you all feel about the 'day of worship' as it is mentioned in the Bible? Is it more of a tradition for you, and less of a Biblical doctrine? I know that there are many different opinions on this, and I'd be interested in hearing some of them...

Of course, there are quite a few Bible verses that speak to this issue, as well as the way in which we should rest on the Sabbath day, but before quoting verses, I'd like to hear what the members here have to say!

That makes three, since I'm a Seventh Day Adventist. BTW Yoshi, it might be best to take such a conversation to the theological discussion area. We don't allow intense theological convos here on general.

On Sundays, I work and play Oblivion.

Please do take that to a separate thread. This isn't the place for that discussion.

Well, in my church, our day of worship is still Sunday, but it's still meant to be the Lord's day set aside for worship. (Not getting theological, just clarifying.) We Presbyterians sometimes use "Sabbatarian," as someone who tries to keep it.

Depending on my schedule I use either Saturday or Sunday as my day of rest. Since I don't attend church at the moment, it kind of varies from week to week. On the rest day, I usually read a book, draw, watch anime, or write.

I used to be uber involved in my old church. I was involved in ministry, went to services several days a week, and everything. But, I felt like I wasn't really growing the way I wanted to anymore, and instead grew to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome there... So, I left, and started searching.

I've been looking for new churches and I've been sticking with a church a friend of mine switched to a little over a year ago. I'm liking it so far, but I've only been a few times. We'll see where I go with this church... :) So far so good.
