CAA Convention

Talk about anything in here.

We're just a forum, not a corporation. The donate button was added because people kept requesting it, but it's not as though we have a budget or funding of any sort.

All that is likely to happen is what happens with other forums: people meet up at larger conventions. This has occurred a number of times already.

Yeah, that seems like how it'll go anyway o.o It would be nice to get all the CAAers in one place. It's a very nice thought ^ ^ It truly seem like I've been adopted into another family ^ ^

Err, that made me sound like I'm an adopted child (I R Biological Child D:<) :P Lol, I should go now :P My brain is melting D:<

It would be quite interesting to see how we all relate to each other off line since we all seem to get along online.

... we DO get along online...right???

If we have more than a couple of people, we'll probably want to rent a meeting room somewhere, and that gets very expensive, very quickly. Hmmm...I hadn't thought of separate cons...that would be a lot easier logistically since you'd have less people to worry about. Still, where to meet is a problem...the best solution I can think of is to go as informal as possible and just have people hang out at somebodies house...of course that would inevitably mean that CAA east con would be held in Ryan's living room...and that would be rather...well...cramped...

I think the only way a CAA con could come into existence is if it started as just a gathering of friends and grew...remember folks, none of these large cons started out that way. They started small and grew and honestly I think the smaller we start the better...cause some of us lack money...

We'd all better wear name tags so we can match faces with usernames.

Well, if I actually dressed up in Sailor Dove's outfit, would I need a name tag. Granted, I don't have red hair, so that may cause confusion. Guess, I'll wear the name tag.

It would be eventually have a CAA con! But, would like to go to any meet ups with other CAA members.

I don't know if I'd cosplay for a CAA convention though if I did, undoubtedly I'd go as Yuko from XXXHolic. I'd pick another of the the manga covers to go as instead of her traditional "space-time-witch uniform" from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle though.

Actually I've been thinking about that too. Maybe not a CAA Con persay but a Christian Media Entertainment Expo. Like gather those of Brethren Ent, CAA, Teen Mania, and Focus on the Family, and together collaborate, somewhat like a christian E3. For example, Inkhana worked with Brethren Ent so I think there might be a possibility of her as a helper in this and I'm going to be interning in Teen Mania in a couple of years so maybe I will be able to help as well. We all know how Teen mania is all about evangelizing to our culture and since CAA is making the Pilgrims Progress manga, I think they would love to be able to help and possibly even distribute it (just a suggestion but it's understandable.) I think if we can convince the higher ups in the christian entertainment world I really think this can be possible I mean think of it how much better would we be able to reach our world if we are more unified body you know?

Edit: sorry I can't expand on this more but I'm at work and I just got on break so I need to go get some food in my tummy so ttyl ok?

I think that would be awesome... There is such a stigma attached to "Christian" events... as though we as Christians are all either rabidly fanatic or unbearably "pious"... Having a large scale Chrsitain media event, where we can be free to discuss and enjoy the different media flavours of our faith, would be really awesome. With the popularity of certain crossover music artists (The Fray, Flyleaf and Anberlin immediately spring to mind) it would attract secular mainstreamers, too...

yeah and if that's the case that means that mainstreamers will get to hear great christian bands like Pillar and Newsboys, which would improve the likelyhood of them getting into mainstream too.

but let us not get to ahead of ourselves first we need to figure out how to get this started before add the band lineup lol ^-^.

LOL! True, true... but I am all for it! I want to get involved!!! And since my kids that are just getting to the age where they are interested in music, media and whatnot, it will be something that my whole family can be involved in! ^_^ I *know* that I would sooo be fanigirling out at an event like that... Sometimes it rocks out loud to be almost thirty, but still have the mind of a fifteen year old! I want to go do all this cool stuff, and my kids want to go to cool stuff... and I'm the one who gets to decide that we all go geek out to anime and video games and cons... It's the best of both worlds...

Excellence. Though if this parallels the forums most of them would get caught in the foyer by the bouncers (mainly Corrie and I).

Hey, what about Texas? It's a central location...maybe in Houston? We could rent out a floor of the local Super 8 motel...if we're lucky, the Days Inn or La Quinta...
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. To be sure, the scenery, attractions, and weather in the SF bay area would be better than many places, but I expect many people would also have to sell their anime collections to afford flights and hotels in San Jose, CA. ;)

I could probably find a meeting place on the cheap, though. My church would probably let me use their grounds, being as I serve on the board.
