Apple might have good customer service, but I think that their prices are too much for me.

Agreed. I can't afford them either. That's why I would suggest either A: Buying one used on Ebay. Or B: Buying a smaller iPod shuffle. They're only $80 and can hold about 240 songs. If you don't mind not having a screen to look at, it can serve you just fine. They're also extremely durable because they have no moving parts.

And the small iPod shuffles have clips so you can attach 'em to your shirt.

mechana2015: Does that answer your question?

K. Ayato: Perfectly.

That's one reason I've stayed with Apple. If one of their products breaks on you, then you can have faith in their customer service to help you.

It might seem like a very small thing, but a company with a good customer service can be very mandatory when your product might or does break.

I think the customer support quality may vary for both companies, because I've heard of customer support issues with Apple, too...

I have a Zen nano plus 1GB I've had nothing but trouble with it -_- I had it replaced but am still having the same problem so maybe it is my computer. All I know is I've put many hours into trying to fix and I filled it up with songs quickly. The only thing I like about it is that is is so small I can fit it in my pocket. I'm hoping to return it and get a 4gb Ipod nano or the 30gb Ipod depending on what my parents are willing to spend. It would be awesome if I could play music videos and stuff on it. Both players and companies seem to have mostly positive reviews but also a number of peopel who have problems. There were people who had had the same Ipod for 4 years and others who were on their 4th in a shorter period of time.

I have a Creative Zen Nano that I am more than happy with. It's been dropped, washed, sat upon, scratched...you name it, and it still plays fine. It's also nice and light. I'm thinking about upgrading to a "bigger" kind of Creative, but I'm not really ready to yet. Look at some of the reviews on Amazon, and compare Apple & Creative.

Well, I hope that the V is good, because my sister ordered it for me yesterday. It's got 4 GBs on it, so I hope it'll hold a lot. I'm currently looking for videos to put on it. I hope I don't need customer support, though, if it sucks. I hope it lasts my road trip though. :D Thanks for all your help guys!

I've got a Sansa (made by Sandisk), 4GB. It's cheaper than the nano and more functional: it plays videos, records radio, view pictures, records voice.. stuff like that. It could be described as a bit buggy though - it makes weird little noises on very low volume sometimes, and if you unplug it from your computer without properly disconnecting it... you could be in trouble. lol I had to reset the whole memory a few times doing that - but turns out you can (maybe) prevent the probelm by resetting it - holding down power for 15 seconds. Yeeahhh. But if you want a cheaper thing that's still a nice size, has expandable memory, plays videos, and can record voice and radio - consider the Sansa.

Hope the V turns out well for you. And just as I was about to suggest the Sansa or the Archos.
