fashion fads you... never really understood^^

Talk about anything in here.

Hey! I like brown *pout*
It goes great with my coach purse. (no worries, it's a knock off. I don't have that kind of money... )

Anyways, I'm not a trendsetter in any case. Everything is t-shirt and jeans. But I have a weakness for earrings.

I will rock sandals forever, even thong sandals. I hate feet sweat. But why do people have to wear socks and sandals?! :shake:

Louis Vuitton is a nasty fad. It's so expensive, even the fakes. And people will have LV EVERYTHING even cars and sneakers. I like splurging once in a while but I'd rather something splurgeworthy. A LV luggage set doesn't count...have they ever watched them load a plane?

I thought the fur boots were awful too. We're in Miami! Why did they even sell them?

The silicone bands were another. I wasn't anti them, matter of fact I have a few, but people would have like fifty on each arm and it seemed like they diliberately tried to not match. Looks like it's dying down though.

A few years ago it seemed like everyone around my neighborhood had a moped or a little motorbike or their little brother's bicycle. But they were big grown men....
But it died down.

I like wearing socks with sandals... ._.;

Man I'm so sheltered. I ahven't nopticed to many trends going on, unless ghetto counts and owning a pimped out Honda or Ford Torous...

This one kid down the street has a real mohawk... All I know is that 70s and the 80s were ugly. Wearing a thong so that it shows is nasty, even though you don't get a pantyline. (Seriously, who wants to wear floss?) Furred boots in SoCal? ...

:D I know! I never thought that they would be, but I tried on a pair of Bermuda-length shorts on impulse the other day at the mall, and I loved them!

Sweater ponchos are the trend that I never really understood...

I never liked ugg boots, or the furry boots. Of course, the most often I saw ugg boots was on people wearing my school uniform and they just DON'T look good together <.<;; Over some straight leg pants they're not too bad though.

^_^ Ooh, this is one of my pet issues. I don't care if you wear pink ~ my dad wears pink occasionally. BUT! The whole "real men wear pink" thing is hypocritical and [dextervoice]STOOOOPID![/dextervoice] Think about it. You're showing your confidence and masculinity by following the crowd and insulting people who don't. [sarcasm]That's freaking brilliant.[/sarcasm] I would still like the hot pink "All my black shirts were dirty" tee, however.

Some fashion trends to mystify me . . .

1) The recent "beach bum" obsession
2) Schools issuing girls on the cheerleading squad, etc. hotpants with stuff screen-printed on the butt. Especially elementary or middle schools. Eugh.
3) Tight pants. Seriously.
4) Corsets. Thank God they went out. How stupid.
5) Midriff shirts. WHY?
6) Those really big rings ["gauges", I think they're called] guys stick in their earlobes. Ugh.

I knew a guy who would carry a sharpie marker in his ear that way. That's just wrong.

Anyone remember pastel camouflage? Now that was nasty.

Living about 1 1/2 hrs from the coast, the beach bum thing is huge here. People love Rainbow flip flops that cost around $40. They have a lifetime guarantee on them and all but come now. Target sells flip flops for $3. *will buy a pair in the next 30 days*

What kills me are the girls I see strolling around in those pointy-toed heels with little pearl necklaces. It's cute...on 30+ women.

Then again, maybe I'm just bitter because my fashion sense doesn't kick in early enough to be in style for school. I don't start putting together good outfits until after 11 AM.
"So David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor."

I don't get the gaucho pants either.

I'll admit, I gave in to the plastic/foam/rubber clog fad, and got a cheap off-brand. Surprisingly, despite being ugly, they are very comfortable. Though, I have seen variations on the shoe lately with cloth upper parts and laces, like mud boots. :shady:

I also like brown on myself, which surprised me, since I thought the color would look horrific with my brown hair.

I'm also not a fan of the thong. I must have missed the memo about it being stylish to have *erm* crack, showing; even if it is 'covered up' by a miniscule amount of fabric. *rolls eyes*

Fashion. I don't know anything about fashion. But an overdose of pink on clothing is not cool. And pink shirts for guys are just wrong. Effeminate to the max.
Basically anything type of clothing that isn't functional in the least. I detest the 'cleavage to navel' dresses.

 Sorta funny trivia - those originated in Australia. They're supposed to be sheepskin boots called Ugg Boots - Ugg being the company that makes them, I presume. I used to have a whole bunch of them when I was younger because I have family in Australia, and they don't have heating in their house. So when we went to visit over summer vacation (their winter), my mom bought me a bunch of Ugg boots to keep my feet warm, and dang they worked.

XD I've long since outgrown my ugg boots, but let me tell you, it's WEIRD to see people in sunny California wearing them around. Especially 'cause I bet they're not real sheep skin. >O!

I originally thought Osaka was talking about plush faces of animals attached to the boots, eg. fluffy bunny slippers.
(I now assume she is talking about being furry on the inside of the boots?)

Some people enivitably make the connection of ugg boots = ugly.

I think they have their place. Which isn't with a mini-skirt. :shady:

Ugg boots are the cool! Australian-owned, Australian-made. Last I've heard though is that some crafty and mean American company bought them out, or took them over or something. Ugg boots are ours. Please leave us be! (lol)

The entire decade of the 80s, for one.

Then, in the recent "hardcore" music scene, I don't understand...

-Guys wearing girls' pants
-Guys and girls getting ugly, ugly haircuts and thinking it looks cool. Case in point: the reverse mullet. Short in the back, but with this long swoosh of hair that goes over the eye. Also bad: the bed-head look. To attain the bed-head look, dye your hair several different shades of the same color, apply lots of gel and run your hands all in your hair until it looks like the result of a six week long drunken bender.
-Guys wearing white belts.
-The big sunglasses.
-Flat-billed caps at hardcore shows.
I'm a shoe-in for hater of the year.

Agreed. XDD

I will never understand the 80's. XD Shoulder pads, big hair, leggings (ROFL), etc. I hope that side of the 80's never return.

Also, I never understood powdered wigs.

Polo Shirts.... I hate those so much. I've never understood why parents dress thier children in them. :/

As a matter of fact, I was afflicted terribly by OCD at one time and I couldn't wear anything but polo shirts.

I honestly don't mind the hardcore/emo dress so much. Not getting the whole girl's pants thing, but I don't think it's entirely necessary to wear them to get the look. Likewise with the hair. There's a right way and a wrong way to do it.

I can achieve the look just fine with a good pair of low-rise boot cut jeans, so yeah, I agree with that. The hair, though....I just spent the last week at three shows downtown and two days at a Christian music festival and I saw some ugly haircuts. I don't know, man. That reverse-mullet is pretty bad when it's done wrong.

1. Whiskered jeans. I hate them. Jeans are not supposed to emphasize a girl's or guy's thighs. When I saw a whiskered skirt I thought I'd go crazy.

2. Those little sweaters girls wear over solid tops that only go to like halfway down their back. Cute on some, but overall, eww.

3. Short white miniskirts. You know, the ruffly ones with the lacy hem. I see too many girls wearing them with nothing keeping the light from shining through and revealing their legs.

Yeah, I agree. Some guys have straight up, woman hair. Kinda disturbing. Personally, I'd go for a faux hawk over party-in-the-front. That's probably one of the most manly emo-cuts out there.
