here's what the people in the missions trip did when we went on a flight to brazil (most require more then 1 person though):
1. if kids are nearby, do a (relatively quiet) puppet show. most people enjoyed it more then they did the screaming children beforehand.
2. if you know sign language, get seats several rows apart and have a silent conversation. if not, throw wadded up paper notes back and forth once the rest of the plane goes to sleep.
3. try to see how many movies you can watch at once by looking over your seat.
4. Cards are fun
5. try and compete on how many refils you can get before the plane ride is done. seriosly, some members were able to get probably twice as much as anyone else on the plane
(note: this usually is accompanied by frequent trips to the restroom)
6. if you get a bad pilot, raise your hands in the air like you are riding a roller coaster every time he dips. this can be exaggerated by side to side sways as well. works best when you have a full row.
7. Collect barf bags, and fake using all of them.
8. Try to learn another language by listening to the foriegn language stations on the built in radio thingy.
9. Laugh at the cheesy foriegn movies played on the screens.
10. construct sculpture from plastic silverware and tape.
11. play dress up. (aka, i got on the plane as a normal person, i got off as a wilderness explorer, and went through a phase as a cowboy)
12. Sing! (The plane is usually loud enough to drown it out anyway)
13. Collect free stuff. Quite handy later on!
- others, not all from personal experience since we didn't bring laptops or videogames:
14. In my experience, reading is difficult on some flights, as is writing or drawing. movies, music and video games are your best bet. (but make sure that you get GOOD headphones - noise cancelling. In some planes it's impossible to hear anything otherwise.)
15. If you must watch movies, watch movies about hijacked airplanes and plane crashes and airport mistakes - that kind of thing.
