Interesting chain, this one. I think we all would agree that anime is strictly fictional so being attracted to a character to the point of fanatacism is unhealthy. However I dont think there is a problem with finding attractive characteristics in fictional characters. When you enjoy any form of entertainment (anime, movies, books, video games, etc...) you become mentally engaged in the story. Engaged as we are, we tend to look for similar characteristics in the stories' characters as we do in real life. Its just easier to find such characteristics in fiction because they are more apparent (they are designed that way). By the same token, that only makes such characteristics that much more precious when we take the time and effort to find those characteristics in our search for our future mates (God willing).
That being said, Winry Rockbell (Full Metal Alchemist) and Kagome (Inuyasha) are "attractive" to me. Not only are they pretty, but they both display a self-sacrificing loyalty to the ones that they care about.
The thing I find sad is that so many people nowadays have bought into the "happily ever after" myth that if they aren't happy they feel they can casually walk away from marriages. My prayer is that God will help me (us)learn true loyalty to our spouses, even to the sacrifice of our own desires.
Sorry if that sounded preachy or anything, just something I feel really strongly about.
