Seriously, though, James is a variation of Jacob, which is the Hebrew word for "supplanter." Figuratively, a liar. That ends up being true more than I want, but not nearly enough to be descriptive of me. As for Earl, it's originally from the Old English eorl, a warrior or nobleman. While it's interesting, considering my family was once Irish nobility in what is now County Cork, and I joined the Army to boot...the main significance for me is that it's my dad's and my grandfather's middle name as well.
