Job- he's my hero cause he maintained faith in God even when everything screamed not to

Proverbs- nice practical wisdom. a bit boring to read through though.

Ecclesiastes- studying it right now in SS; my teacher says this is the wisdom of a bitter old man. so i can identify. except for the old part i think.

Romans - great doctrinal stuff. love it.

Ephesians - again great doctrinal stuff.

James - more great doctrinal stuff.

Gospel of John, and the Wisdom of Solomon
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

(The End of Education)

Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge

Revelation, Daniel, James, and John (the gospel).

Prophecy and eschatology (sp?) get my brain going.

And James and John are full to overflowing with good teachings. (just like the whole Bible)

Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.
