Since there are now four threads of people complaining about various things, with the chief complaint being a lack of recognition for their contributions, I think it is necessary to respond.
So, to all of you who feel this way...
...get over it.
Sorry, that was my first reaction. Here is some real advice:
Based on the nature of certain jobs, your individual personality, or other people, you may not always get recognition for your contributions or accomplishments.
This brings to mind the example of my grandparents. They have gone to the same church for over forty years. My grandmother is basically in charge of the monthly luncheons, while my grandfather is head of the building and groups committee. The building and grounds people are responsible for maintaining the building, utilities, and landscaping, among other things. Without these things, the church would (perhaps literally) fall apart, and at the very least there would be a lot less joy for the congregation. The luncheon people work in the back preparing food, moving tables/chairs, and all of the other things involved with feeding lots of people. They do not receive any kind of pay for these jobs, yet without them the church would be in pretty bad shape. On top of that, they are some of the oldest members of the church. Why am I telling you this? Well, whenever the pastor (and there have been moire than a few over the years) rattles off the names of great people in our church, their names are overlooked. They don't ever complain about this; on the contrary, they continue to be faithful servants. While this state of affairs is reflects poorly on the other members of the congregation, it is a perfect example of humility and faithful service that from which you might learn.
I am not saying you are being arrogant, or childish, or even slightly unreasonable. Everyone needs to be told, "Thanks," or "Good job," every once in a while. So for those that feel they are not appreciated, I say Thanks.
Oh wait...the mods already did this:

I apologize if I've offended anyone, but before you get angry, think about
why you are offended. Are you offended because I am right, or because I am wrong?
