food parts you don't like?

Postby Tenshi no Ai » Wed May 17, 2006 6:40 pm

Thought of this while I was eating dinner tonight^^

So is there any food where, while you like it, just disslike eating a certain part of it? ^^ I know a popular one among people are bread crumbs/loaf ends :/ Makes me sad to see people waste the ends on loaves v_v I mean c'mon people! They make the best and crunchiest toasts!!

For me though all that I can think of now is the stems of broccoli/califlower... although fibre lives in there and is good for you, I always bite it off^^ Even with season salt, the magical ingredient that can make almost ANY vegetable taste good, it doesn't work on stems^^

Also meat grissle/fat >_< UG! I always cut it off :/ Tastes gross and well, it's fat^^ I just really disslike the texture (and knowing what it was) in my mouth :/ Yeah I'm not the biggest meat-eating fan^^

So... how about you? Surely there's SOMETHING!

Heh let's go for it!

With this though, I more mean like served foods. Like I said if you don't like the edges of bread, you peel it off and eat the rest. Not like a specific animal part that's a part of a whole^^

*shudders* My step dad eats it. So what they say about Chinese people is true in some cases^^ I think it's so sick when I hear him chewing on it >_< Besides, it's a part that's not exactly MEANT to be eaten :/

I'm so picky with meat parts, I mean, I look and notice an artery sitting there and eat around it :/ Boneless all the way! Less of those gross parts :/

Ew, I never eat fat or grissle on meat. Nasteh! Also, I NEVER eat veins that I find in chicken...Haha, it's just so gross! Ugh, makes me gag just thinking about it. XD I used to avoid bread and pizza crusts, but now I love them. It was one of those things that grew on me, so to speak. XD

Yeah, I don't like broccolli trunks.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

About the chicken veins, to tell truth, I loved chicken skin when I was little^^ Preferably crunchy and stuff... not so much now with the slim layer of fat underneath^^ Sometimes it's alright, and honestly, never even NOTICED the veins until pretty recently! Beef viens are worse and about 10 times bigger and noticeable :/

Heh I remember back when my grandma made my family clam soup alot (always picked them out though^^), I just dissected a clam in biology and after that thought it was gross how I was able to recognize the parts on it :/ "Oh, here's the water valve :/ Oh there's where they deposit their digested food" :/

Animals aren't always fun when you eat them^^

I dislike chicken skin, but I dislike tasteless chicken even more, so I'd eat the skin when all the seasoning was on the skin...

I like broccoli. What I can't stand are the stems of bok choy.

I don't like onions that are grilled or otherwise cooked.

I dislike liver more than I do intestine (tripe). Liver doesn't seem to get mushier as you chew it more. Plus it just tastes disgusting.

I dislike the seeds of grapes, and actually accidentally biting them in the grapes. They ruin the taste of the grape. Which is why I prefer saltanas that don't have seeds.

EDIT: Most grapes have seeds... There are seedless varieties, but I don't think they're natural (they grow by replanting the vine, I believe)

I generally only eat seedless, as well...

My family and friends have decided that I am possibly the pickiest eater any of them have met. Luckily, that generally extends to entire food items, not individual traits about an item. I do have trait hates though, lol.

Fat, on any meat item. Grossness. My grandfather used to eat steak fat, he would even take the fat the rest of us had cut off and eat it. Blarg.

The rind on ham. I dislike it intensely and always cut it off.

Rocky Mountain Oysters. I can't decide what feature of these little things are more disgsuting. I wonder who first decided that these are good eating? Blarg^infinity. My parents used to make me eat one every few years as a child, as an attempt to convince me that they were good. I shudder violently and gag at the thought of eating them. (if you don't know what rocky mountain oysters are, look it up or PM me).

My mom refuses to understand, but I have trained myself to pick out the texture of foods that I don't like, so if I'm eating something that they're mixed into, I can tell. Namely green chili peppers and onion chunks. XD (true story. I can also tell the difference between regular and diet/no fat mayo, ranch, and milk without seeing the container.)
