will we show up?

God will always show up, but will we?

Prayer, when we pray for something we have to realize that God is going to do it, God is going to show up, so we have to show up. Why ask God to inspire you to preach and you never put yourself in the position for him to use you to preach, and you never study? Why ask him to anoint and inspire you to write and you don’t pick up the pen? We pray for angels to be at the street we’re going to hand out tracts at, we pray for power to heal the sick and to cast out devils, but do we show up? Do we ask people if they’re sick? Do we go to the hospital? Do we exorsize the power and authority we have in Jesus name? Do we even exercise it at home in prayer? EVERY BELIEVER, young and old, licensed and unlicensed has the POWER- Mark 16: 17 “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. 19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. 20 And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.”

Shouldn't this be in Bible Study?

Pray to God because everything rests on him, then work like it all rests on you. Jesus did just this on the Mount of Olives.

I humbly ask, if we're able to talk about anything in this forum does the encouragement have to be in the bible study section?

Well, in order to keep the boards tidy, posts such as these usually do go in the Bible Study section. Don't worry about it this time.

I think the best definition of General is that it is for talking about anything else that there ISN'T already a specific board for.

Cool post, by the way. :thumb:

Cool! But just because we haven't cast out demons, healed the sick, spoken in tongues, etc., doesn't mean we aren't His followers and we aren't His right? Just to make sure. :)

Of course not! we are indeed his followers because we believe and keep his commands, and of course still growing in his grace as the Lord takes us to new levels of the understanding of his power.
But the encouragement hear is not only to pray for God to do these great things as I know many of us do, but to put ourselves in the position for God to use us to do it.
Sampson didn't just pray for the Lord to use him that last time when his eyes were taken out and his locks shaved from his head. But I think it's very profound that he put himself between the gallows first (in the position to be used by God) then prayed for the Lord to remember him to avenge himself. Judges 16
