My mom went to visit this guy today... I guess he used to go to our church. In any case, what CBS failed to mention about the suit against them for Moe's supposed attack was that the charges were dropped because it was proven that Moe didn't do anything to the woman, but she simply lost her nail because a fake nail got caught on the cage...

Apparently they haven't been able to fix his face yet... None of it could be reattatched, and he had two ribs taken out to replace his foot, somehow... He has a fake nose that he can take off and put on, held in place by magnets, and he has a lot of work to go before he'll be... fixed, I guess...

To keep things straight, there are two incidents mentioned here:

1. The main one, last year, of the guy getting mauled by the two chimps

2. The suit that caused Moe to be taken to the shelter to begin with. The lady said moe bit her finger off, but her finger wasn't missing, she lost a her nail because it got caught in the fence... Later investigation showed that she couldnt' even get her finger into moe's cage... It's a special mesh that made it impossible... Moe woudlnt' have been able to reach her...

"Primate experts said that chimpanzees, which typically weigh between 120 and 150 pounds and are much stronger than humans, are known to kill chimps from neighboring groups, hunt other primates and even attack humans in the wild."

I really didn't know how dangerous these things were. Here I always thought that a human being could take a chimp any day of the week. Guess not necessarily. Wild.

The chimpanzees you see on tv and in the circus are specially trained.This is why people have a false sense when they are around untrained chimpanzees,they think because they are so small and cute looking that they are automatically docile and tamed,which leads people to make moronic mistakes.
Leave chimpanzees to the experts like Jane Goodall.

If I ever go to the zoo, I think I'll try to keep my distance from the chimpanzees or any other primates...

I feel for him. Without trying to sound heartless, people should realise that chimps are dangerous.

Moe (his chimp) was a pet... that he rescued. Moe's parents were killed by poachers when he lived in Africa as a kid. He brought him to the US, and kept him as a pet for a long time, I guess... Well, his chimp was really well known, and someone came to his house saying they were going to do a story on the chimp. He lived in the house a lot of the time, but slept in a cage in the back yard, I guess, and that's where moe was at the time.

Well, St. James told the lady who came not to touch the cage or make any noise. The lady went out to the cage, and started tapping her fingers on it. St. James went out and saw what she was doing and cleared his throat to get her attention. That startled her, and she pulled her hand back, getting her fake nail caught on the mesh that surrounded the cage, pulling her real nail off. She proceeded to sue the Davis', saying Moe "bit her finger off."

The case was dropped when a trip to the davis' home proved to the Judge that it was impossible for Moe to have reached her, and she wasn't missing her finger in the first place (He had her make a prayer stance, it was obvious it was just the nail that was missing) However, because of the suit, they lost moe to the shelter and the city wouldn't work with them to get Moe back, so they had to visit moe at the shelter.

Well, one of those visits, a person at the shelter left the cage that three (?) other chimps were in open, and two of them got out and attacked him and his wife when they were visiting moe. They bit off his nose, his cheek, I think his ear, all his fingers (on maybe one hand?) and the back of his foot. The surgeons were not able to reattatch a lot of it, so he's still going through reconstructive surgeries...
