Non-anime Conventions

Postby Puguni » Sat Nov 19, 2005 7:03 am

I actually enjoy going to my state Latin convention, it's so much fun! Tomorrow is my third year going! XD Anyone else indulges in non-anime conventions? I've never really heard any others, except maybe a doctor's convention, but it seems to be all lectures.

I went to the Visual Studio 2005 Launch Tour, if that counts. (got a free standard version of VS 2005 and SQL Server 2005 for free, so it was worth it)

I'm there every year as an exhibitor; been going since Vintage Computer Festival 4.0.

Dad's a preacher, so we go to the conference's yearly convention. An d some homeschooling conventions, when time is free.

I normally try to attend the World Boardgaming Championships or a similar strategy/military board wargaming convention. That's for fun.

Professionally, I usually go to HIMSS each year.

This year, I was lucky, and happened to be in San Diego (on business) when the San Diego Comicon was in town, so I went there and spent way too much... but that's just happenstance. Normally, I wouldn't go to a comic book convention. Broaden my horizons and all that.

If I am not attending a anime con I am attending something involving the fire serivce involving a convention.
The Prince George's County Fire and Rescue convention hosted by a fire company in the county.
The Maryland State Firemens' convention in Ocean City, Md.
Both have memorial services, meetings, presentations, election and voting for new officers, competitions, dinners for past officers and parades. The state has product exhibits, siminars, open houses and fireworks
I also attend the Firehouse Expo in Baltimore just for the product exhibits which happens two weeks before Otakon.
