Mock Trial?

Postby Debitt » Sat Nov 12, 2005 3:17 pm

So has anyone here ever participated in a Mock Trial? (ie, a fake trial where people play the parts of attourneys, wittnesses, defendants, etc.) And if you have, what role did you play in the trial?

I'm just curious because we're doing a mock trial in my government class right now, and I'm REALLY getting into it. I think it's seriously the most fun thing we've done all year. x3 I'm a trial defence attourney....it's so fun, I'm going to get to dress up on the day of the trial and everything. XD It'll be awesome.

I was a witness, specifically a cop, so I got to wear a mock uniform. I think the defense ended up winning though. T.T

I did that once. I was the DA, and just to be different I decided to play a corrupt one manufacturing evidence because in another class we were studying the abuse of power.

I lost as I deserved of course, but it was fun.

Eh, not really a "trial," but my senior Government class participated in a Mock Congress. In a way, it's similiar because it relates to a function in government. My job was to type out each bill on display for the "congressman" in our mock legislature. In other words, I was the computer guy.

Lucky your class got to do a trial. :)

My European history class a while back put Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette on trial. All the witnesses and lawyers and all were characters from the French Revolution. I was one of the witnesses, but I plain forgot the name of my guy. I dressed up and everything, though. Was fun. ^__^

My high school Am. Gov't class had a mock trial, I was one of the judges. And our experience was crummy.

The girls for the prosecution took it way too seriously (one was going into law in college) and made people cry (on the defense team, defense witnesses, as well as prosecution witnesses - I mean, cheeze) harrassed mock-witnesses because they 'weren't real life professionals, and thus unable to give a proper testimony'. And because they were such horrible sports, the jury voted for the defense, and the girls threw a huge fit and protested to the teacher. *rolls eyes*

Just don't act like your entire future as a lawyer depends on you winning this mock-trial and you should be fine, lol. You'll do fine. ^_^

Supreme Court Chief Justice Ashley. And the cool thing was, I voted the way the real courts did on the cases (we picked real ones on the dockett for that summer). XD

We had one at school once for a charity. We would trial and charge prominent members in the school (like teachers, preachers, principals and such) and we'd sentance them to "prison" if they can't pay the fine. They would be compelled to pay the (not too rediculous) fine and it would go to charity.

I was the defense attorney in my school's mock trail, too. How about that. I'd give you some pointers, but I lost the case. So I'm apparently not very good.

 Just got done with the first day of trial so far. ^___^ I didn't get anyone to cry, but I did scare a couple of the witnesses, and thus they ended up slipping up on their statements. XD; Mwahahaha.

My gov class did a mock congress, too. I had to make a bill. Mine was on a bullet train system for the Eastern coast of the U.S. The rest didn't really go along w/it, however. They were more interested in the 18 drinking case, and other stuff like that.

Later on, when studying the judicial branch, we did do a mock trial. I's the prosecution attorney(or one of the ones on the team) Not cut out for it. We did a couple of trials, so everyone got to be on the jury. That was fun!

Ooooohhhh! I've played that one, too. You have to figure out who is the evil one, or something like that. Someone is the narrator, there are cards (like the joker, king) that tell you if you're the guilty one. It's been a while, but I like it.

Aaack! We just started ours today! I'm on the prosecuting team, and it's a murder case! I had to get up on the witness stand today...it was SO FUN!! I couldn't have my affidavit with me, so I had to know 3 1/2 pages of information really well so I could answer all the questions. It was SO cool! I knew the answers to all the questions, too. I think we're gonna win the case, I'm excited to go back to class on Wednesday!! :D

Hahaha! That happened at my school last year!! This one guy is going to be a politician one day, I just know it...Anyways, he made a girl at the witness stand cry because he was so incredibly harsh with her. Everyone was so mad at him, haha!!
