~If you could change your name?~

Talk about anything in here.

Postby TurkishMonky » Fri Aug 26, 2005 8:22 am

i would probably change it into somthing long and unpronounceable (with several gutteral sounds and extended latin characters in the middle and ending with e or o), except for a easy section in the middle that would be somthing short like geik or frodo or somthing... then i woundn't sign up for do not call, and have fun with everybody i met... not to mention trying to get people to spell it for official documents.

my favorite part would be watching people trying to pronounce the gutteral sounds in my name for the first time, until they realized the middle was easy. (i'd even wear a full name badge to help them out!)

I wouldn't want to do somthing like that to any kids i might have though... but i'm weird enough i'd like to do that to myself.

If given the chance I would change my name. There are too many Jo(h)ns in the world.

Not sure what I would change it too, but yeah.

When I was younger, I used to lie to people who I knew I would never see again that my name was Ted. Ted Jones. OK, the Jones part I didn't.

Name change? Uh, maybe something with fewer letters and syllables, and something that doesn't have a role-caller stop and squint to make sure s/he pronounces it correctly.

Something like Cory.

Are you kidding? John's a great name! It was the name of a great disciple.

Plus, it's got a "j" in it.

AHHH! AHHH! You too?! I was going to be a John Jr.

When my parents found out I was a girl, for one horrific month they were thinking about naming me Johnnie. I would have been CURSED to be a Southern Georgia girl for the rest of my life. I was talking with ikimasu about this, and I think that name would have doomed me to be different from the person I am for the rest of my life!

Thank heavens they came to their senses xD *NOTE* Not to offend anyone with the name Johnnie. I just REALLY don't think it fits me or my personality.

Yeah distant cousins.Actually we're still working to find the exact line in
England that my Washingtons come from.My George Washington was
actually named for his great uncle the former attorney general for the
colony of Virginia Lt.Colonel George Jordan. He was born in Surry co.,Va.
around 1682 and died in Southampton co.,Va. in 1763 and I descend
through his son Joseph.
The actual relationship between my Washingtons and President Washington
has still to be fully discovered although at one point it was thought that
they were third cousins.

I have nothing against the name, but if you go in a large crowd and yell "John," at least five people will react.

And I figured out what I would go by if I (a) wasn't used to Jon, and (b) had to use some portion of my given name. 'Chael.

My sister Cathryn hated her name growing up because people always misspelled it.They either spelled it Kathryn or Catherine or else Katherine.
Then again our last name has always been misspelled all over the map
as well.

I might change my lsat name to Scriven, because that was the family that I decended from, but the name changed quite a bit over the centuries, but my first I would keep the same.

Although I like my name just fine, if I could without it being weird and I didn't think it would be a slap in the face to my family, I would change my name to Sakaki. No last name, just Sakaki. (Kind of like the monomonikered Sakaki from Azumanga Daioh.) I just like that name--and I've roleplayed several characters with that as a surname (i.e., the name they went by, since they were Oriental Adventures characters), to boot. And, of course, "Sakaki's cool," to quote Azumanga Daioh.
To all, life thou givest, to both great and small.
In all life, thou livest, the true life of all.
We blossom and flourish as leaves on a tree
And wither and perish, but naught changeth thee.

I love the name I was given because my parents let God name me. My first name is Elianna, meaning "My God has answered." It is more of a jewish, hebrew kind of name but I'm alright with that. My dad is more jewish at heart even so. My middle name is Elizabeth which means "Concecrated to God" So basically both of my names have a meaning towards God. That's why I love my name so much I guess. I don't think I would ever change my name because nothing else would ever sound right.
Oh and also don't worry about the whole name spelling thing everyone, I've had my name pronounced and spelled so many wrong times that I can't even remember them all. Ah well people just have to get used to it I guess. That's understandable. ^_~*

Well being born : John Mathis, i have always heard the eternally "Fresh" humor of "Hey... it's johnny mathis!" I do like to sing, which makes me mad. WHY DO PEOPLE BEFORE US STEAL OUR NAMES!

I want my pen name to be Drake Donnegan, and i want to be irish, so Donnegan is an irish name, lol. I have always liked Drake as a name, as well as Doneg, Nost, Edmond, and a plethora of other names i cannot think of now. I think pretty much all japanese names sound cool so... yea. ^^

(I like my name right now, because it's unique (I'm not going to post it... but it's still unique. ~_^), but if I had to, it'd be to Ree Namuras. Yes, my screen name. It has very deep personal meaning to me. Most inside jokes do. But it's also an awesome name.)

It would have to be something suitably anime-ish.

I will take this in the context of "What name do you wish your name had always been", since I wouldn't want to change my name now. It would be too complicated.

But I think Vyktor Maximillion Draykhardt is an appropriately unusual name.
