Animazement 2005

Postby Rev. Doc » Wed May 25, 2005 7:52 am

Well, tomorrow Animazement 2005 will officially begin with the pre-con gathering in the evening. The con itself will get into full swing on Friday. Your's truly will be shut away in the volunteer room for just about all three days. I know of at least two others who will be attending from CAA and I hope there will be a couple of others. If you get the chance pop your head into the Capital City room and say "Hi!"

You can count on me to drop by! :thumb:

And, to everyone else, drop by Saturday so we can paint your face!

Well, I think I'm almost caught up on sleep by now. Just wanted to tell everyone who wasn't there that you missed a great con. It was great meeting Rev. Doc and Steve Racer, and I think the little face painting booth went very well.

To whom it may concern, I'll be putting a journal of the con up on my website as son as I get my pictures back and finish translating my notes into English (for some reason, when who haven't slept in 24 hours and your in the back of a very dark, chilly video room, it's a little hard to write clearly)

O.O

You guys were there and I didn't get to see you?! AWWWW...that sucks!

At any rate, yus, it was a great con. The guy dressed up as the save point rocked. I'm SO stealing that idea for Otakon. The Wolfwood cosplayer with the big metal cross was cool too.

And I got to see Macross Zero and the Naruto movie there too, even if the Naruto movie was standing room only. XD Whose bright idea was that anyway, to have the most popular movie playing in the smallest video room? At least I'm pretty sure room 3 was the smallest...well, anyway.

Oh, and the game room! Whoever got the game room set up deserves uber-cool points for having an Atari 2600 with Adventure, Secret Quest, and Combat.

And hey, I even got to meet Chika Sakamoto and hear Aya Hisikawa do her Kero-chan voice. And Kyle Hebert does a GREAT Strongbad impression. XD And the MST3K panel RULED. I salute the man who had that idea. Seeing Space Mutiny again made me laugh so hard I nearly died.

Animazement was a great con. Wish I'd found this thread earlier so I woulda known where you guys were. ^^;;

I had been attending Animazemnet regularly up until this year but because of money and other things I couldn't make it this time. For one thing the anime club I belonged to fell apart and its been hard getting ahold of them. I am from NC and have family there in the area but I live in Maryland near DC. Maybe next year I'll get back down to the show when my money and other things are good.
I have always wanted to volunteer for the show as a medic but last time I asked they told me it was covered.
Well I have Otakon and Neko Con to attend this year. Otakon as a attendee and Neko Con as Staff.
I would attend Anime Mid Atlantic in Richmond but I have to be in Ocean City MD for the firemen's convention which is going to make me spend my money.
I hope to meet some of the other CAA members at Otakon or Neko Con.

It was great meeting Blitz and Steve Racer. Blitz and his crew really worked hard with their face painting in Artist's Alley. Each time I would pass by they seemed to be pretty busy and I saw quit a few finished works as I made my way down the halls.

While I was unable to attend Steve's panel on "Your Parents And Anime," I can say that the staff received the most positive feedback from that one panel than any other. I am sure if you want to come back with it next year Steve that you will have no trouble.

My only regret is that I did not get to spend more time with these great CAA folks. I hope they truly enjoyed Animazement. It's people like them that make for a great convention.

I'm afraid I won't be able to make Otacon. Having just taken a week off and the fact that I will be leading a mission trip to Romania at the end of this month, that will be just about my limit away from my church responsibilities for this year. But I know you'll have a great time.
