Pulp Fiction

Postby Joshua Christopher » Sat May 28, 2005 11:20 am

Okay, before we get going, this topic is *NOT* about the 1994 Quentin Tarantino movie with John Travolta, Sam Jackson, and Bruce Willis.

I'm talking about Pulp Fiction. I am such a huge freak for the old 1930s Pulp comics. They're just so cool... and I'm probably the only one here who likes that kind of stuff.

Anyone else? Eh?

Well, you can learn more about pulp comics at this website: http://thepulp.net/

Oh,yeah I have a couple Doc Savage novels. He was the original superhero before
Superman and Batman came around.Doc Savage,Tarzan,Conan,Buck Rogers and
Flash Gordon were probably the Big 5 of Pulp Fiction.
btw:If you're interested in Doc Savage, etc. check out the Wold Newton Universe.

Don't forget about The Shadow and The Spider: Master of Men.

I really need to find some Pulp reprints.

I don't believe I've read any pulp comics, but I have read a volume of the original Conan stories by Robert Howard. I suppose Lovecraft could be considered pulp also, since he wrote for Weird Tales.

Everyone needs to check out the various Wold Newton Universe websites on the
internet. They're a fun way of showing how for example Buck Rogers relates to
Steve "Captain America"Rogers, etc. For Lupin III fans check out The French
Wold Newton Universe. It has a section on Lupin's supposed grandfather
Arsene Lupin I the great French thief/detective who was a rival of Sherlock Holmes.
There's also a site that has a family tree for Usagi from Sailor Moon showing how
she relates to such notables as Kenshin Kamura and Ranma Saotome.

I remember when I was like 10 or 11 finding some Captain America pulp comics in my grandparents attic in an old.
