Me and a friend were driving when a cop blindsided us and I passed out. When I woke up a emptey body bag was next to me. I asked the paramidic who it was for and he jumped 5 feet back in shock. I can't explain what happened, but it very weird. NExt day at the hospital the cop tryed to give me a ticket for not having a saftey belt on, when I had deep burns on my chest from a seat.belt. Now I live each day like it could be my last. Death doesnt bother me, I just get scared of the feeling that I could leave my loved ones with so much pain. Thats the last thing I want for my friends and family.

I'm sorry about both of your stories. They are very sad. :(

She may have been asking about people who claim they "saw the light" or " felt their soul floating above their body" and whatnot. If this is correct...

I think that all of these stories have a basis of truth to them, but many have been exaggerated for the purpose of entertaining people like myself who are interested in the paranormal. :P

I have a friend at college who had open-heart surgery when he was young and he remembers floating above his body and watching the operation. I trust what he says as well. If you knew him he would not be one to lie. I also think it depends on God's timing and if it is your time to die or not.

Anyway, I had a near death experience once. I was having a tree climbing contest with my friend in back of my church. Anyway, I was aboput 20 feet up when I heard my dad calling me to go home, so as I started climbing down the branch under my foot snapped and plummeted 20 ft. head first down. I remember my life flashing befoe my eyes and then waking up with my foot caught in the critch of the tree at the bottom and my head about 1 inch from the ground. MY leg had caught the V shape in the tree and it ripped all the skin off my leg from my knee to my ankle as well and whiplashing me against the tree trunk. My one friend at the bottome was crying because he thought I was dead but I wasn't. Long story short, I survived with a small scar (surprisingly) and I turned out to be ok. I believe God, saved me from death o breaking my neck, it was not by chance that I did not die.
The Straight and Narrow

I chose to walk the straight and narrow road, but one day I lost balance and fell off it. I had fallen onto some sharp rocks and injured myself. There were people passing by who would merely stare at me, and then keep walking. Thoughts of worthlessness entered into my mind, and as I chose to believe the lies, my wounds grew worse. I was so overcome with grief that I nearly gave up... but then a man walked up to me and stopped. Without saying a word, he started to wrap my wounds, he gave me some water, and then lifted me up and embraced me. He then whispered these words into my ear, "I love you my child." As he said those words I could feel all the worthlessness and despair fall away. He then held out his hands. They had huge holes in them. He then said, "Walk with me." I then took his hand and we walked together. Every now and then I would fall from the road, but no matter where I fell, he was always there to pick me up and tell me that He loved me.

Having never had such an expierence myself I can only speculate as to their
validity.Certainly you have to consider the indiviual's spiritual state when they had the expierence and if it changed their life for the better. It is passing strange that
even those who do not believe in Christ or are downright Atheist would have the same sort of expierence as those who do.
Perhaps the Being of Light that comforts some of these people is an actual angel and perhaps on other occasions, especially with those who do not believe, it is either Satan or one of his Demons sent to decieve the Lost with one last comforting thought before they are sent to Hell.(?)
Again it is just speculation on my part but remember in the New Testament the Devil is called an Angel of Light.
What I find interesting is the fact that there are instances of people who have claimed that they expiernced Hell before they were revived.
Of course these instances are quieted down or ignored.

I nearly got hit by a truck when I was four or five. Luckily, I jumped out of the way just in time. It was in a parking lot. Outside of Subway... >.>

You sure? I mean going to face the Great Judge would doubtless be an awe inspiring, and perhaps even comforting to the damned to be in the presence of YHWH our God before being cut off from Him, perhaps even the moment of both their lives and afterlife.

The last time I had a near death experience was April 1, when I told my boss I just got a job offer from Google. When she figured out what day it was, she half killed me.

I actually died once.

It was in the middle east, about 2000 years ago.
Funny thing was, a lot of people died at the same instant.
Same place, too.

Another funny thing is that we all rose from the dead a bit later, as a different person.

110V through both arms, 10 full seconds. No injuries sustained (walked away after the accident as if nothing happened).

Head-on collision with a car while going downhill on a bike without a helmet. Slight damage to brain, otherwise no injury sustained after a week of hospitalisation.

Head-first fall from monkey bars onto wood floor. No injury sustained.

Head-on collision with a large rock while swimming in the ocean. Slight temporary stun effect, otherwise no injury sustained.

It seems most of my near death experiences come from head injuries. No wonder I get headaches once a while...

It was a somewhat oblique way of referring to Jesus. Because he died our death, you can say that, from a spiritual perspective, it was actually we who died there. And if we died with him, were we not also raised with him? That's the gospel - that, essentially, we died and were raised. It's the gospel, just phrased a little differently.

So, sorry, no reincarnation yet.

The closest I've been to death happened freshmen year at college. My brother was driving and not paying attention to traffic. Anyways, there was a police officer radaring cars, so everyone was braking to slow down. I noticed it early and told my brother to watch his break because everyone was slowing down. I said, "brake....brake..........brake......BRAKE!" We were about 50ft away from the other cars going about 90mphs. Lets just say, there not enough time stop a car going that fast with in 50 feet. Anways, my brother finally slams his brakes down resulting in the car to veer off the road to the right median (wall). Then missing the wall by literally approx. 2 inches my brother swerves across across all three lanes of traffic missing 3-4 cars by 2inches (if not closer). Then we end up in the far right shoulder and my brother turns of the car. Then we look up and what would you have guess, right behind the cop.

That was by far the most scariest thing I've ever been through having a close call w/ the wall median and 3-4 cars. The moral of this story is never slam your brakes, "pump them!" :P

I've read quite a few accounts regarding the spiritual near death experiences.

While some seem ok, others are very strange with the details described. Some espouse ideas of cosmic oneness and other concepts that make me uncomfortable. With all personal accounts of a spiritual nature, especially those without outside confirmation, I am very cautious about how much trust I will credit to them.

Most of those kinds of experiences I've encountered, I heard or read from Mormons, so the ideas expressed related to that in various ways, like doing temple work for deceased relatives or something similar.

The floating above the body thing is not just related to clinical death, either. It's also been described by people who were in surgeries or even dreams, so I'm not sure what to make of that.

As for the literal "I almost died" topic in this thread-- I haven't been close to dying that I'm aware of.

What I continue to find odd about these expierences is that even people who do not believe in anything at all that is Supernatural tend to share these with people who
do.That is why I said in my earlier post that some of it might be a deception by
Satan or his Demons.

Note:There are of course people who would classify all of these occurences as being simply some sort of mental delusion caused by chemical reactions. The
same sort of explanation they would give to alien abductions.

I think some are true and some are not. I've had experiences like that before, but I was too little to remember anything clearly.

Hmmmm. . . my near death experience. . .

I'm not sure if this was near-death, but it would have at least been near-extreme-pain-and-other-possible-permanent-injuries. I was on a back-packing trip with my youth group, and we were exploring these awesome caves that went for miles and miles, and it was totally dark except for our flashlight beams (it was awesome :-D). Anyways, there was a point where there were loads of these HUGE boulders a couple of feet apart, and the edge of each boulders dropped off way far down so you couldn't even see the cave floor. Anyways, one of these boulders was particularly far from another, and (I don't remember clearly all the details, it was kind of a blur) as far as I can reckon, I jumped to it, slipped, slid to the edge, and caught the egde with my arms and upper body, leaving my legs and the lower half of my body dangling out over this precipice. I looked down and saw blackness, but I wasn't even scared, it was a weird sensation. It felt like I was dreaming. I just knew that I needed to get up. So I think I called to my friends, and was like, "Um, could somebody please pull me up?" And so they did, and even to this day I'm not really freaked out when I think about it, it almost feels like I'm thinking back at something I dreamed about. . .
