Euthanasia

I know that this is a sticky issue...but, I am curious.
I attend Cal State Northridge and today, as I was walking into the library the school newspaper caught my attention. On the front page was the headline "Bill to allow assisted suicide in California." In the article, it states that the bill was pushed through congress in light of the death if Terri Schiavo. It claims that this bill's passage would keep long, hard court battles like in that case from occuring in California.
My parents left the state claiming that it was quickly becoming more and more immoral.
My question is this: Should people have the right to decide to end their own lives or to be assisted in ending their lives in situations where they are terminally ill...or does this go against the commandment "Thou shall not kill?"

Those are excellent questions, though CAA is probably not the best forum to disucss them on. I would suggest the "Theologyweb" icon on the top of the screen There are pleanty of people there you can talk with.

Thanks!
