In Your Opinion, What Is the Greatest Invention/Inventor of All Time?

I thought this would be a fun thread, and in addition I'll be getting a school assignment done. ^o^ I'll be killing two birds with one stone, you see?
I needed to survey twenty people (no one from my class or my parents), and believe it or not, I can be really shy sometimes.(just to strangers...I'm goofy alot but it really depends on how I'm feeling...mood swings, my head is always foggy, I'm slow and disfunctional because of my bad sinus problems) Plus I'm sick, and super-paranoid of people I don't know. I automatically assume that they're waiting with a knife to stab me in the stomach as soon as I approach...^^;; A fear of mine I struggle with. People mistake me for being rude, angry or prissy because I try not to let on...meep, I'm getting off-topic. o_O
Is that enough excuses? @_@ Heheh...
So I'd really appreciate if you'd help me out by putting in your two cents.
There are alot of smart people on here who know quite a bit about this kind of stuff. Me...I go blank. >"< *can't remember any facts*
That's why I just make up my own and hope they're right. ^^;; At least my mom makes me look everything up later...
I need to work on that. ._. I love to teach people whatever I know if they're willing to listen so it would probably be a good idea to be reliable...:sweat:

I think, maybe Alexander Graham Bell? Because he invented the telephone, something that I think, gretaly connected the world together! I don't think we would be discussing this topic without his idea. He also worked and helped developed many other inventions, for example, experimented with the air plane.

But you might have a problem with where he is from. Because some say he is British (<< I agree with it) while other say, he is American or Canadian. That's something you will have to research, if you want! (but.. I think he is British. Good certain.)

Toilet was very good too though. :lol: I had experienced with out-houses, they aren't very nice memories, ha ha ha. :sweat:

Bell was Scottish-American.

I'll have to say anything Tesla made was the greatest invention. Why?.... I don't know. But electricians seem to like him.

The internet. Well...the phone. Because without phone lines, I couldn't have the internet, and I would have missed out on meeting all of these amazing people miles and miles away !

Well, obviously, the greatest invention ever is sliced bread.

That's not my sentiment, but I'm sure EVERYONE here has heard the expression, "That's the greatest thing since sliced bread!"

So it's come down to this...television, Xbox, magnet trains, the internet, jets, atomic bombs...

Yet the greatest invention of all time is sliced bread. That's the pinnacle of our society!

I'd say the wheel was a pretty revolutionary invention, one we take for granted now. But nobody knows who invented it... pity.

Thomas Edison was one of the greatest inventors of all time. For one thing, the guy was prolific. He invented... what? Thousands of things?

The internet is a pretty darn cool invention, too. And despite what he tells you, Al Gore did not invent it.

I beg to differ. The greatest thing ever made is warm soup. Very few people like cold soup and besides I don't like my bread sliced when I eat it with soup.

And why kill an elf? Don't they like soup and bread?

He invented a lot of things, yes! We can practically blame the whole electrical and electronic age on him. Some Shinto cults worships T.A Edison as the god of electricity. What I do dislike of Edison though is that he had some very bad streaks in his life, one of them being a movie pirate.

Greatest invention for me warm soup. :sweat: :lol:

Greatest inventor though is, well, Edison, wether I like it or not. :lol:

OK, Tesla is not my favorite inventor. Nor do I think he is the greatest inventor. I don't even know what he did! It just sounded like a cool name to drop at the time.

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a bloodthirsty death mon--uh, I mean, afficionado of guns and their history. The (unknown) inventor of gunpowder tops my list on "most significant inventor." Whether you love guns or hate them, you must realize that the gun has played pivotal roles in history. They rendered both knights and samurai obsolete in ground warfare, and changed infantry tactics forever.

Second on my list is Samuel Colt. Yes, Colt of the .45-OldWest-Cowboy fame. If guns changed combat forever, then Colt's revolver changed gunnery forev...well, maybe not forever. But it certainly ushered in the era of quick gunfighting. Lever-action repeating rifles, Gatling guns, semiautomatic weapons and machine guns would soon follow. Also, one well-known truism among us 2A types is "God made all men, but Samuel Colt made all men equal."
