Does anyone here think that snakes are evil?

Talk about anything in here.

Snakes aren't evil. No animal that God has created is evil. They can't sin, so therefor they can't be evil or do evil. They have no souls to be damned (not cursing, that's how that word is supposed to be used) or saved.

No animal is evil. Man is evil, because man is sinful. But animals aren't.

Conclusion: No, I don't believe snakes are evil. Those at your church who do need a swift kick or something.

I wouldn't want one as a pet though... but that's just me.

Snakes are not evil, they're just reptiles. Like lizards. Or Komodo dragons, which I have deemed mostly not evil. Badgers, however, are creepy when dancing.

Mushroom! Mushroom!

Seriously though, I find the entire idea of considering a paricular animal to be evil more than a little perplexing. It's simply not something one often encounters. Admittedly though there is likely to be a certain amount of instinctual dread of snakes that's hard-wired into our psyche given the rather more physical danger they would have represented to our remote ancestors.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

I agree with most of you about the snakes. Just don't be stupid and walk up to one, or if you see one just back off. I remember once, in Africa (y'all'd know I lived there if you read my who's who thread) when I was little I went up into my treehouse. I had just gotten up when I saw this snake. It was small and almost translucent. I stared at it for a while and then told my mom it was up there. she almost had a heart attack. I could have gone to the hospital or even died( it could have been a cobra or mamba). The only reason I think I went down unscathed was God was protecting me, like many other times over there.
Any way, moral of the story: don't take your chances.

Are snakes evil? Hmm... No. They're jsut animals. However, many people do have pent-up fears about them, due to the fact that there are some poisinous ones out there. I think that the fact that the snake was used to represent the devil doesn't change a thing, ti just shows that snakes can be deceptive. Well, sometimes they need to to survive. Just part of life.

Agree, agree. Snakes are not evil. I really think they're cool critters, actually. I used to catch and carry around Garter Snakes all the time as a kid.

Yeah. Garters are a blast, except for the fact that they really stink when they're afraid... >_<

Oro Girl, yeah it isn't smart to go playing with snakes in Africa, but if you know what kind it is, it's alright. (Though down south, it can be tricky... :eh: )

I went to the pet store today. There were baby corn snakes the size of earthworms...they were so warm and cute! I held one. It kept trying to get away...awwww...

"Cool critters?" So, was the pun intended or not? Pretty cold blooded to make fun of an animal's "condition"

I used to have a pet Green Snake... her name was Ophelia. She was so pretty...

Needless to say, I think the notion that "snakes are evil" is ridiculous. :)

I don't since I have a very loveable pet snake, but there are a lot of people at my church who think that snakes are demons/satanic/etc. What do you guys think? Just wondering...

(Yes, I have pictures of him. ^_^)
