This woman is awesome.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) - A 22-year-old Alaska woman said on Wednesday she punched a black bear in the face to save her small dog from being carried off and possibly eaten.

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

You go girlfriend! Teach that bear a lesson! *Snaps fingers.*
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

She's pretty cute too, judging by the pic in the paper today. Bet she's spoken for already... >=[

However, she is very lucky, since most maulings up here are done by black bears. I heard on the bus that she told the paper that she didn't really comprehend it was a bear until after she hit it. They do look a lot like big dogs.

...but pls, PLS, don't go punch a bear to get famous. You will make the paper, but the article will be about who you are survied by. n_n

Uh, cool I guess. Do not try it at home, though. A dog's not worth getting yourself mauled, and I doubt it would do any good anyway.

Must have been a pretty skittish bear, because I doubt a punch really hurt it.

Bear: Hey! Sheesh lady, what was that for? I was just saying hi! You didn't have to go haul off and hit me...
