Marching Band Parade Players?

Postby Sapphire225 » Sat Oct 13, 2007 5:18 pm

I played in the marching band today (And I still can't feel my hands). I'm a percussionist, both a bass and cymbal player and I'm glad to be apart of the drumline.

Does anyone else play or use to in the marching band and been in a parade (this includes showstoppers, flag people, leaders, etc)? And what did you play?

I played trombone during high school and college. The band like then was like my family--lots of good memories.

French horn, trumpet and melliphone in a competing parade group in high school. We also did street show band occasionally.

I still play in a pep band, but we don't march. I play melliphone there.

I did (but I had to quit). I play clarinet. Wow, I remember those 90 degree days in our thick uniforms...and those vultures flying over us during a marching competition...Yikes >.< Band influenced our lives so much, we called the bandroom "Home".
Man, I miss my band friends...

:dance::dance::dance:

When I was in school I was part of the most important section of the entire band:The Low Brass,and in my school I was important cog being one of the only Sousaphone players!:thumb:
Then after we got a new band teacher I was switched to Baritone and then we moved to Alaska and I went to a larger school and there were more
Tuba players...

Marching is a pain when you have to go around carrying a big old Sousaphone all that way though!:forehead:

I played bass drum my first two years of HS, and Quads the last two years, while learning every other drum insturment on the side. I can basically play anything percussion now (this includea the mallet insturments).

Drum line wins.

That's only because when no-one's looking the Percussion Section can get away with throwing spitwads at each other and the rest of the band.
