...the older you get?

I thought that was because you forgot things more frequently. Deja Vu would just be that you haven't forgotten it COMPLETELY.

Or was it because we've been here before and didn't realize it?
Ok,to be serious there are probably cases where de ja vu is simply triggered by
similarity in location,events,etc.The I-Fee-I've-Been-Here-Done-That-Before
syndrome probably comes from long forgotten memory of past events where we have had similiar expierences.

Some of the more memorable instances of Deja vu I've had were cases where I could actually recall dreaming about a particular inconsequential moment before it happened.

Actually, I have a theory on deja vu:

Souls and such aside, your brain functions on electricity and chemicals. What if deja vu is nothing more than your brain releasing the same chemical cocktail it does when you actually remember something?

Aww, snaps. Someone beat me to it.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

(I quite literally get deja vu all the time. It seems I can't go anywhere or talk to anyone without feeling like I've done it before. Like a few days ago, at my homeschool debate league's National tournament, I can't tell you how many times that I know I have not either met this person or have had that conversation with that person, yet I still felt like I've had it before. It's extremely strange. Now I wish it would work during debate rounds so I'd know if I'm going in the right direction with my argumentation...)

If it's distinguishing between 2 situations, then what if the situation happened in a place with a person you never been/meet before?

I always thought Deja Vu was a hip-hop song preformed by Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z....great driving tunage, btw.

I've heard theories that Deja Vu was when your thoughts rather than being process first, were immediately entered into the the part of your brain the remembers things.

Sure, it's not the most scientific explanation, but it makes sense.

You'd look nice as a drawstring lamp
Don't you worry, it's only a shower
For your clothes here's a pretty flower.

So the other day I was playing a game and turned it off after forgetting to save. I turned it back on and had to go through much of the same stuff.

Deja Vu is just God forgetting to save before going to bed.
