Talk about anything in here.

I am going to go right now and ensure I don't study any more so I can get an F on my next one. It will teach me humility and dedication, and actually give me a chance of scoring a high paying job in the near futu....

Wait.

Sir Christopher Christian Teese, your words have inspired many, and truly touched the hearts of all. The powerful and magnificent words you have spoken can do nothing but encourage us to follow the prime example set forth by the one known as: Mitsuki Lover.

Behold, due to your charismatic words, wise nature, and life-changing attempts to change from an A student to an F student, I hereby declare that I will continue my life the way you have done, and follow my path in life the same way you have. With Mitsuki Lover's wisdom, I am sure that with his help and your heart-pounding words; I too, can learn the true meaning of determination and wisdom.

It takes one man to stand up and fight for a cause. Once that one man stands up, the rest will follow.

God Bless you, Christopher Christian Teese. May my life be only a fraction of as wonderful as yours. As long as I follow the path of being an F Student, I can gain true happiness and determination. Godspeed!

People, as I recall, Mitsuki Lover is in his 40's. I don't think he' speaking from any current personal experience, so suggesting he needs tutoring is sort of pointless.

I think the idea of mitsuki lover being around 40 is a bunch of brouhaha.

Moving along...

It takes effort to score high grades. Maybe not "a lot", but effort just the same.

I have never worked so hard as I have for the classes I got A's in. I usually just have more interest in putting the work towards those classes than classes that I got lower grades in.

I rarely "sail" through classes I get A's and B's in, unless they're easy classes that provide an A unless you completely ignore the basic requirements.

I'm pretty sure we don't even have F's here... E's are the lowest mark.

There are important lessons in failures. However, to fail consistently for a whole semester is another thing altogether, and not something to aim for.

There are other places in life for A students to fail. It's just that school isn't one of them.

I think that the presentation of both sides of the issue in question have come across a little stronger than is likely to be the case. I actually agree with most of what Mitsuki Lover says, just not quite to the extent he appears to be advocating. It has been my experience, having had pretty much straight A's until my second year of college, that the classes that I learned the most in were those that I struggled to grasp every single lesson and ended up with a less than stellar (and maybe even failing) grade. After my first such class I became very distressed, until I rebuilt my resolve and proceeded to ace it my next time through. Up to that point I was not ready to deal with failure, now I feel confident in my ability to pick up the pieces and make sure that my mistakes are not repeated. Although I may have worked very hard to get good grades in other classes, I have never been as satisfied with the result as when I came through on my second try.

Oh, that is just too funny.

In regards to thinking that A and B students get everything handed to them, you're not looking at the whole picture. I may have done well in school but I'm still struggling with my art and writing, for example. I may be good at them, but that takes work.

And besides, most kids just get good grades just to get the parents off their back, just saying.

So, no, Fs are not as IMPORTANT as you are saying. I don't think students should jump around with their report card shouting "YES! YES! YES!" because of an F grade. It's a reality check and a sign for what needs improvement, but not much else.

F is shy. Let him go sit back in his corner where he likes it.

I get the point, and it kinda makes sense, but I still have to disagree. I'm a straight A student, for me, getting a mid-B on a test is what I consider a bad grade, a C is downrigth unimaginable. So getting taht B is, in a sense, failing for myself becasue I know I can do better, and it makes me try harder to elarn whatever it was that caused me to get that B.

MSP wrote:I think you're assuming that Straight-A students don't try. Straight-A students get those straight-As for a reason. And that reason is because they don't spend all their time on internet forums...
Yeah...haha. We dont' spend all our time on internet forums...Actualy, I dont' spend near as much time here as I probably think I do, and I tend to be able to cram for pretyt much everythign and remember it well so I don't have to have as much time anyhow.

Technomancer wrote:Naw, we just see the guys who flunk, and are determined not to be them. It may be good to learn from your mistakes, but learning from other people's mistakes is better.
I agree with that for the most part, but there are times when learnign form your own mistakes is much better, or at least faster, than learning from other's mistakes. I tend to often not believe things until I witness them firsthand or have them happen to me.

Fish and Chips wrote:Unless your some kind of gifted child prodigy, I'm fairly certain it already takes a degree of determination to get staight As and Bs in the first place.
I wouldn't really call myself a "gifted child prodigy" but I would say it didn't take much to get straight A's for me, but also, out curriculum in my school isn't really that hard, although it's supposed to be gerat or something, so that probably has somethign to do with it. For me, science and study never go together. We've learned the saem thigns over and over with just a couple new thigns each eyar since about 3rd grade, so by now in 9th I've pretty much got it all down.

I couldn't leave this unquoted.

In short, I'll just say this. It's not good to fail, but when you do it's best to make your failure good for you however you can.

ok. why do i feel this thread is just going in circles. as much as i was offended by mitsuki lover's points (only got one c in my entire life of schooling..all a's and b's), I believe that taunting him and poking fun at him are not right. Baisc fact of this thread....if you get D's and F's don't wallow in self pity and beat yourself to a pulp and think of yourself as a failure. Get up and try harder. Go back and see what it was that you messed up in. talk to the teacher, see how you could have done better(every teacher is different and some teachers would have given a different grade for the same work). But don't just say "eh whatever" and not do anything about it. Whether you get straight A's or have constant D's and F's, doesn't give you the right to belittle the other. So high grade people, don't look down on the lower grade people, assuming they don't work hard. And lower grade people don't look down on the higher grade people for the feeling that they're sliding through life while you're working hard. Basically this is just a topic of how to handle your failures. But pointing fingers and supposed name calling won't get this thread anywhere but locked.

What a great post to close this thread on. This thread is only serving as a bash other people thread...and has outlived its usefulness. Time to take this thread out behind the chemical shed.
