The simple economics of it say that not buying gas on any given day will not lower the price at all. Instead, drive less, carpool, and buy more fuel efficient cars if you want to spend less money on gas. That is the only solution.
Why won't a "gas-out" work? Because it doesn't change the demand for gas. If you buy gas on May 14 or 16, they still get the money. They don't care what day you buy it. They count profits in terms of months, not days. And most people will not drastically change their consumption of oil without changing their lifestyles. So buy gas on May 15 if you are running on empty. It doesn't matter.
