Rest in Peace B.C.

Rest in Peace B.C.

Postby Fish and Chips » Wed Apr 11, 2007 1:56 pm

I just checked in the Monday obituaries (at my mom's prompting), and I found something horrible! Johnny Hart, American cartoonist, firm Christian, and creator of the long running comic strips B.C. and Wizard of Id, has passed away at age 76.

Let's have a moment of silence for the cavemen and wizards among us.

Wow, I didn't know he was that old. I've gotten kind of fond of that cartoon over the years :( RIP Hart

Aw, how sad! I always enjoyed this simple, yet profound comic.

He made pretty good comics. I often read them in the Sunday paper. Rest In Peace Johnny Hart.

Wow... This is on par with Charles Schulz dying... *moment of silence*

Even if he was ridiculed for it, I think he at least got a lot of people thinking about God in a palatable way. That deserves praise. Have fun in heaven, man...

From what I read he was found at his drawing table after having had a stroke.

Without sounding morbid or disrespectful, but an artist dying on his drawing table is rather poetic. I always admired his backbone when it came to his personal beliefs influencing his art.

B.C. also appeared in The Presbyterian Layman.I know since my dad gets it and
there was always a B.C. strip somewhere in the pages.

I heard about this! It's so sad, I always loved reading B.C. He always had such a great way of interweaving his faith with his comics, and a lot of his deeper comics were really excellent. In my state's paper, after Charles Schultz died, they kept Peanuts in the paper under "Classic Peanuts"; I wonder if they'll do something similar with B.C.

This is stinky. I love those comics. I had no idea Wizard of Id was his. R.I.P. Johnny Hart. If you're gonna go, might as well do it while doing what you love.

I personally thought his comics were pretty lame, but he was good at showing his faith in them, and it is a well-loved strip even if I personally didn't enjoy it.

He will definitely be missed by many.
