How do japanese cartoons mix with theology?

Talk about anything in here.

So he preaches to muslims...uh yeah, hes way into christ!

About prayer, of course Im certain its stupid, its just talking to yourself! But I really will try it, and if I get no answer, does that mean Im right?

About the religion thing, the epistles and gospels both contain regulations for worship in churches and in private. thats a religion if you ask me. How can I know Christ? Its a mythical figure that is supposedly dead anyway. Hes dead. You cant talk to the dead. And yes Ive the Bible, Im well versed in it, and no, Jesus didnt come by and chat with me while I read it. And whats my loss with prayer? Well I waste time on it if I do, dont I?

You seem to not be expecting an answer. Whether or not you get one is up to whther or not you listen for one.

You're well-versed in the Bible, yet you seemed to have missed the many instances reffering to the ressurection of Jesus Christ.

You're shutting your ears and closing your heart. How can you expect any answers. The Bible says the voice of God is not through a megaphone; it's through a small, still voice in our hearts.

Ok guys, I've been watching this thread pretty closely and it seems things are getting quite a bit heated. I realize that you're new, Archive, but CAA has a strict no-fight policy, so if this thread gets too messy then we're going to shut it down. I would also ask that you please not post things deliberately inflammatory in nature--like deriding prayer, for instance--because it's just going to make people angry. It's okay to ask for answers, but do so respectfully.

Yes indeed. I fail to understand the reason for your sarcasm.

About prayer, of course Im certain its stupid, its just talking to yourself! But I really will try it, and if I get no answer, does that mean Im right?

What sort of answer are you looking for?

How can I know Christ? Its a mythical figure that is supposedly dead anyway. Hes dead. You cant talk to the dead.

You're misusing the word "mythical." Even atheist scholars acknowledge there was a historical figure named Jesus. He's not a myth in the sense of Zeus or other ancient pagan deities.

And whats my loss with prayer? Well I waste time on it if I do, dont I?

That depends.

This thread started out as nice idea but you have driven to something far more than it should've been. You asked us a question of how our anime interests affect our beliefs which is innocent, but now you're disrespecting and judging our beliefs as well which is in truth, quite irrelevant to the topic at hand.

If you preach the Word of God to Muslims then you're attempting to lead them to Christ. I don't see how that would indicate "not being into Christ" unless you weren't being sarcastic.

About prayer, of course Im certain its stupid, its just talking to yourself! But I really will try it, and if I get no answer, does that mean Im right?

There's absolutely nothing stupid about prayer to God.
It's a very powerful thing.
However, I agree with you if you're praying to anyone besides God then it really is stupid, but can also be dangerous.

You will get an answer if you pray. It will be one of the following:

A) "Yes"
B) "No
C) "Soon, but not just yet"

In my life it's usually C more so than not, but God takes care of my needs.

About the religion thing, the epistles and gospels both contain regulations for worship in churches and in private. thats a religion if you ask me.

Religion to me is simply doing something repetitively such as attending Chruch services every week but never living for Christ himself.

How can I know Christ?

By reading the Word.

Its a mythical figure that is supposedly dead anyway. Hes dead. You cant talk to the dead.

First of all, never refer to my God as an "It." If you truly believe God is dead then you clearly have not read enough of the Bible and are not well-versed in it.

Well I waste time on it if I do, dont I?

Assuming what you probably pray about, yes you do.

As far as the original topic my view has already been stated from another individual. That individual is ChristianKitsune.

You're just the typical christians idiots but with childrens television added to it. Scary mix.

And you're a troll on a Christian site. Scarier mix. ;)

Good day to you.

No, you're welcome to, so long as you're polite about it. The staff doesn't allow rudeness among the Christian members, either - they're not picking on you.

Ive already got all I needed for my video. You're just the typical christians idiots but with childrens television added to it. Scary mix.

And there we go: direct insults.

You're probably not reading this anymore, but I'm going to say this anyhow.

You say people claiming to be Christians attacked you and called you names. I don't know about that. I don't know those people, and I don't know the state of their hearts. I'm sorry that they behaved that way in the name of Christ, as I'm sure you wouldn't wish to be identified with some of the things done by avowed atheists.

But that wasn't Christian love.

This, if I may be so bold as to say so, is Christian love:

You came to our forum openly acknowledging that you didn't agree with anything we believe in.

In some internet communities, religious-based or not, that would have gotten you banned on the spot. But we had no problem with you being here.

You claimed you wanted to ask questions about what we believed. So we listened and we tried to satisfy your puzzlement as best as we could. In return, you were increasingly rude, arrogant, dismissive, and inflammatory. We wondered whether you were sincere in your inquiries or whether you had just come here to pick a fight. But nonetheless, we were patient with you and responded to your questions and statements with courtesy and respect.

And finally you depart, making your exit by insulting and attacking us directly (never mind the fact that you came here complaining about being insulted and attacked), and implying that this was all apparently some sort of experiment or material-gathering expedition rather than a genuine search for knowledge.

And you know what?

We don't mind.

You think what you accomplished today is that you got material for your video. Congratulations. I hope it's a hit. But what you also accomplished is that you got a whole forum's worth of people praying for you. You've heard people say they're praying for you before, I bet. You don't care; you think prayer is a waste of time. Well, we won't care that you don't care - we're going to do it anyway. We're going to pray that you will truly open your heart and your mind and really sincerely look to see if God is out there. Because if you do, you'll find Him; or, more precisely, He'll find you. We don't mind any of your behavior here, because it's given us a chance to pray for someone. There are few greater joys for a real Christian than "wasting" time that way.

That's Christian love, I think.

For all that, my friend, I hope you're on the right side of this issue. I hope that prayer is a waste of time, and that there's no such thing as souls, and that God doesn't exist. I hope it for your sake. And I don't say that because I'm trying to tell you you'll end up in hell or anything like that. That's beside the point. The stark facts are that you have a lot more to lose by being wrong than I do. I waste my life in this world if I'm wrong. You waste your life in the next world, your eternal life, if you're wrong. And actually, I don't even waste mine if I'm incorrect; right or wrong, believing what I believe makes my life better - it makes me happy. I hope believing what you believe makes you happy in this life, if you think this life is all there is.

I'm guessing you won't put any of this in your video, huh?

See you around, man. God bless you.

Oho. Is this an ulterior motive I sense? But more on that later.

You, sir, have just committed a straw-man fallacy. Ashley never said that you couldn't disagree [in fact, you're guaranteed to find disagreements among CAA members on many things] but that debate has been determined to be against the purposes of this board. If you search the forum list, you will find [IIRC] a link to another forum for theological discussion. It's perfectly fine do debate/discuss issues in private messages or on instant messaging programs. However, due to the often heated nature of many debates, the leadership of this board decided that it would not be allowed here. It's a move intended to maintain a friendly atmosphere. Debate is perfectly fine . . . but somewhere else. If you're really willing to have an honest discussion or debate, I'm sure you could find people here who wouldn't mind further discussion in another venue. Your judgment is illogical and unfair.

As to my first comment . . . this post of yours appears to imply that you were just searching for something to mock. In that case, I'm saddened. Reading your first posts, I was rather excited. I've seen my share of unkind opponents of Christianity on other sites, but here I felt that you were going to ask honest, open-minded questions in a respectful manner. It appears that I was deceived. Fool me once, shame on me, I suppose. It stings to be played like that, but whatever. Let me know when you're willing to be more respectful and honest, and I'd be happy to discuss the issue further. Unfortunately, it appears that you've chosen the path of a troll.

: : shrugs : : Oh well . . .

Sorry to anyone in the middle of a long post, but I locked this thread. It was, unfortunately, a meaningless exercise in justifying a predetermined perspective. Future administrative action may be pending, but for the moment this isn't serving much purpose.
