Talk about anything in here.

I wasn't sure which thread to put this in.

hum. there's something i've been wanting to discuss on here, ever since i have seen a few comments on this board (but they will remain anonymous). however i will say what they were saying:

That Catholics, Roman Catholics are *NOT* Christians. These mesages implied that Roman Catholic is a religion all of its own and that they are not Christian because they "worshipped Saints" and blah blah blah.
The truth is: Catholics are Christians. they are a "denomination" (not sure of the spelling)
These messages hurt me greatly. why? because only a year ago this was part of the reason i was against God. i thought, "if God is so good how come all of his followers are all screwed up and against each other. at least with Satan there are no stupid denomiantions..." and then after this it all went downhill, and i wasn't sure of what i believed in. you see, my mother's side of the family is Protestant. and my father's side is Catholic. All year I go to a Catholic parish, but in the summer when i visit my grandparents i go to a Protestant parish. And on each side, i hear from my father that "when you go to your grandparent's house... don't read the books... [because they were Protestant books]" and each time i go to visit my grandfather he tries to "convert" me to Protestant by stating that the sacraments of the catholics are blasphemous etc etc. now when i look, i think it's so sad that all these people are against each other. by doing this we miss the big picture. everyone has little personal beliefs on how worshipping God should be done and how the Bible should be interpreted and read... but in the end we all believe the same thing don't we? God is our Saviour? He sacrificed Himself by Jesus for our sins? perhaps this is what i've learned from being split in two. in fact i don't even believe i fit in any denomination, i just call myself Christian. i don't want to be part of a denomination anymore...the point is: you're not Lutheran, Catholic, or Protestant... you're Christian. I'm sorry if this is a rant of somekind, you are free to delete it or bash me, whatever you want. these comments just made me explode. and i'm sorry for it.

p.s. catholics don't worship saints... they ask them to pray for them as you would a friend in a time of need. but since they are dead, to talk to them you say "pray". most catholics don't even do it. in fact they don't even do it in church. they do it in religion class if you go to a "catholic" school. this goes in hand with your personal belief of the afterlife. lots of people believe that when we die, we sleep until judgement. others think we go straight to heaven. i suppose the belief of asking saints to pray for you is based on the latter belief. personally? i do not care anymore. Jesus Christ loves me. He scarificed and came back to life just for us. i want to do everything He wants me to. and that's all i care about~
