I used to know a guy who did that for his 8:30 morning physics lectures. He always brought along a teapot as well.

Uniforms are expensive, but I wouldn't mind them too much. I was surprised at how many "preppy" girls were actually in favor of the idea when a teacher brought up the topic in class.

my school uniform states i must wear

a white y-shirt (white cos i'm a senior

)
a school tie
trousers
a leather belt
leather shoes
grey socks

the shirt MUST be tucked in, even during summer, the collar must be done up to the top, tie must be done up straight, shoe has to be polished, and everything should be neat. especially as seniors.

well, the fact is though, if the uniform is worn as it is supposed to be worn it's quite comfortable. and i never have to worry about wearing something wrong, because the uniform is always correct

and i can even wear the uniform out in the 'public' because the fact is, without the tie, it's a business suit.

but i still prefer my long pants with a t-shirt. call me lacking in fashion terms, but that IS style

if i wanted to i'd wear a good suit anyday... just that playing with computers under desk = need comfortable clothing, which = long pants and a t-shirt.

i'm going to try that when i go to uni, if i ever have an early morning lecture.

I go to a private school with a dress code, so I couldn't dye my hair if I wanted to...otherwise, I'd dye the tips of my hair blue...

I think I've reconsidered the radio talk show hosts comments about school uniforms. Human nature is much stronger than any policy a school can lay down, even with the best of intentions. So I guess freedom is cool then. I do take issue with excessive piercings and tattoos, but that's a personal conviction of mine that I can't force on anyone. Then again, I'm free to believe that and exercise my freedom I guess. Besides, at the rate that teens in the U.S. are getting piercings and tattoos and dying their hair, I'll soon be the minority.

Yes... yes you can. And it's not as unusual as you might think, especially if most of the students live on campus.

Now, if you go to Berzerkely, you can even go to class *NOT* in pajamas... "The Naked Guy" was famous for going to class in nothing but Birkenstocks and a backpack.... o.O How's that for "no dress code?" :lol:

It's not a big deal to see the models in my Life Drawing class, but I certainly wouldn't want to see some random person walking around campus in the buck... that's just slightly unacceptable.

At my high school there was one guy with a pierced ear, no one died their hair, and the dress code, while attempted, couldn't be enforced.

At college, there is no uniform, you can have piercings where ever you want, and pink hair? No problem. If they tried to enforce a dress code at Midwestern, there would most likely be a riot.

I went to a Catholic high school, and uniforms really aren't that bad. The expense isn't really all that great considering the amount of money that people will save by not being pressured to buy whatever their school firends think is fashionable.

I'm not prejudiced of anyone who chooses to dye there hair, heck, it's a free country, people should have the right to do to their body as they please. I just don't do it because I feel it's a waste of my time and serves no real purpose whatsoever. (Some colors even look really ugly.)

No dress code in college??? Hmmm.... that gives me an idea....

hair colour, isn't distracting, i can agree with rules like no football strips, an stuff like that but man, hair colour or length/style? come on it would be more interesting. it should so be allowed, same as gel, an stuff like it, here in Scotland school uniforms are standard and i didn't mind em, and if they think that having a certain type of hair colour is going to cause trouble, then they are pretty stupid... they should concentrate on the real problems like troublesome students, bullying, drugs stuff like that...

oh an my school let me wear an ok selection of my punk stuff, and didn't care about my spikey hair
