Official Website:
http://www.blizzard.com/wow/ I just checked out the site for this game, and it looks...awesome.
It seems like the game will be very deep, but I like the fact that they say it is flexible enough that you don't have to pour huge amounts of time into it in order to have fun (one of the major drawbacks of most MMORPGS). The trade skill system could also be amazing if done right (and knowing Blizzard, it will be). Add to that a large number of race/class combinations with unique skills, nice graphics, and huge towns.
Is anyone else excited about this game?

This is a MMORPG that really caught my eye. It is indeed worthy of the word spiffy!
I've always have enjoy the stylish graphics that Blizzard does in their game. They my not be the most technically impressive, but they look great and don't kill computers like Far Cry.
I like the fact it's deeper than your typical RPG were you aimlessly run around killing little things.
So, what characters are you guys interested in playing as? I like the Humans (yeah, I'm boring
) and the Rogue class... or Warrior or Paladin. I really wish the Blood Elves were playable... that would rock!

i was thinking about the taurens as my race, but i think night elf or dwarf might be the way to go for me

I was also thinking of the Taurens.
I will probably start as a Tauren Hunter or Druid.
My second choice is probably a Human Paladin or Night Elf Rogue.

WoW looks great, and hopefully I'll be playing when the game comes out. Most likely as a Human Paladin.

It's just another reason I have to upgrade.... it's going to ROCK!
We'll just have to wait and see how my upgrade goes this year.

Perhaps if we can get enough people interested, we can start a CAA guild/clan when the game is released.
Anyone interested?

Sure, that would be awesome! The game would go a lot smoother with a group at the begining, at least that's how it is with the other MMORPGs. Anyone getting it the first day?

I should be getting it the first day, although the release date isn't set yet.
If we are going to start a guild/clan, there is something to consider:

Horde vs. Alliance Split
The Horde is battling the Alliance in the World of Azeroth. Horde and Alliance players are unable to group/party with each other, trade, create guilds together, or even talk to each other unless both players have learned a common language. If you wish to play with other friends, make sure you select races that are allied with each other. You can have characters on your account of either Horde or Alliance faction. You and your friends must choose whether you all will create Alliance or Horde characters to play together.
Horde Races: Orcs, Tauren, Trolls, and Undead.
Alliance Races: Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes, and Night Elves.
The site doesn't say anything about languages (I'm assuming it refers to real-world languages), but it looks like we are going to have to pick one of the two forces. My personal preference is for the Horde (I will probably start as a Tauren
).

When we get everyone together, we can have a vote or something. I perfer the Alliance, but the Trolls and Undead seem interesting enough.

I'd be interested if I get my computer upgraded in time.
Something I've heard about WoW is that it's supposed to be friendly to single player people (unlike other MMORPGs) and not require that you invest your whole life to the game, but we'll see.
I'm sure I can find something fun to play on either side of things... so I'm game for either/or at this point.

That's what I've heard, although I'm not sure how they plan to implement that in the system. I would like it if the game were like that, since I don't have the time to play for hours each day (ok, maybe I do, but I'm not going to
).

Simple, take out the mundane task of killing hundreds of little creatures to gain one level and give the player a larger variety of better things to do, along with hunderds of little creature to kill.
*sigh* I never really understood how people got addicted to a game like Everquest.

For those that are interested, the World of Warcraft: Collector's Edition is available for preorder at EBgames.com:
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/242464.asp I'm the kind of person who buys the Collector's Edition, so I went ahead and preordered it. Of course, if I see it cheaper somewhere else (or if the game is released over the summer when I can actually get it the first day rather than having to order it), I will cancel the order and get it there.
Anyway, if you want to get the game with all of the little extras, it is available.

That is to subscribers though, if you don't pay for their bonus stuff, you have to wait for the open test.
