Hey guys, before you say anything I know that 3D technology is expensive stuff but, did you hear about the starting price for the 3DS in Japan?
It's 25,000 yen. (AKA: $300!!!
)
I don't know about you but, I'm not really willing to pay $300 dollars for something like that. I'd rather get an Xbox 360 or a PS3 with that much money.
(I'm just gonna wait till they come out with the newer version that you KNOW will be just around the corner. *Hopefully it'll be cheaper too.* )
As for the release dates, they're set to start shipping next year on February in Japan, and on March in Europe and America.

You know, I can't imagine 3D on screens that small being all that mindblowing.

Regardless of the price, I still plan on getting this. A handheld port of Ocarina of Time is just too good to pass up.

I expect the launch price to be closer to 250$. Regardless, I will be waiting to get this until it drops to something more reasonable.

Some think the price for the NA release will be more or less around the $300 mark, but some people in the gaming news think that it may cost us more then what Japan will be paying.
But I don't know if I buy that as I would think it would be $300 or less for the NA release.

Nintendo 3DS: Why ¥25,000 Is Not $300The point is that prices in different territories are pretty much never the same as the equivalent in terms of exchange rate. The most clear example of this is the price of books in Canada vs. the US. More gaming relevant examples include the difference in price in places like Europe and Australia vs. Japan and North America.

Three-dee, shmee-dee. I'm not paying more than 200 dollars for a handheld system unless it will also make coffee and rub my feet.

That'd be fairly fantastic, but only if the handheld also changed the coffee filter and put the grounds in itself. I hate setting that stuff up, and I hate the cleanup.

Also, if it does end up getting priced at around $300, then hopefully they'll include a free game or something. That probably won't happen though...

I will take one that makes me a sandwich and pulled the covers on and off the bed.
We are just going to have to wait and see what our price will be and then whine about it!

this was posted on another website I visit in response to the price...
"The system will sell for 250,000 yen, which, in today's dollars, is close to US $300. Now before you freak out about the price, remember that a) the exchange rate is the worst it's been in fifteen years or so, b) sales tax is already included in Japanese MRSPs, and c) things tend to be more expensive in Japan anyway. We have absolutely no reason to believe that the system will be priced at $300 for the US or anywhere else"
Anyway, that price is pretty steap either way. But I will definitly be getting one eventually, because of Kingdom Hearts 3DS.

Because of the massive re-releases for the N64 I'm going for it, plus there'll be lots to choose from because they plan on releasing many games on the same day as the system launch.

Not only N64 rereleases, but things like Metal Gear Sample... Though I'm curious how they're going to fit MGS3 onto 2 gigs (bit less, no doubt) to get it on the system... Maybe the codecs will be text only, or like half of them will be.

Oh I know it's not all N64 games but I was saying N64 especially cause I missed that system (Have SNES and jumped straight to the Wii)(Oh well I had an x-box in the middle but I didn't like it as much as the Nintendo stuff) I'm excited about the new stuff too (Like Paper Mario 4 and KH as well as a boy/blob).

This is the reason I want the 3DS so much.
Hmm. I've got a couple of friends who work at GameStop. I wonder if they could hook me up with a deal...

One of my top reasons for getting a 3DS is to watch 3D movies. It be the only way to watch 3D movies without glasses. That is until someone makes a 3D TV that needs no glasses.

The past couple of Handheld systems Nintendo has put out has been more expensive in Japan than over here in the US.

I'm currently not willing to shell out in excess of $200-250 for a 3DS, but it has definitely peaked my interest, considering what games are coming out for it and that I've enjoyed all of Nintendo's handhelds that I've played (Game Boy Color through DS Lite). Though, of course, if they release a sequel to The World Ends with You on the 3DS, I may buy it regardless of price. XD

I've stated my opinions about watching movies on a postage stamp (with a useless spair postage stamp in addition)
I may get one movie on it for the novelty, but it's just not worth watching movies on ANY DS, any more than it is on a Cell Phone (even worse because of the superfluous second screen). PSP (non-go) size is my absolute smallest size. If PSP2 is Go size, I won't be using THAT for video, either... Or, I THINK Go has a smaller screen, anyhow... I've never actually used one.

The only reason I mentioned the movies is because I dislike the glasses more than small screen. I do not like to watch movies on small screens either. It would be the only way for me to watch a 3D movie. I refuse to wear stupid glasses to watch a movie in 3D.

If I can play games and not worry about the screen size, I can put up with small movie screen.

I really, really want one! But being able to justify spending that much money is another matter...
Maybe if I'm
really good about my spending habits until then...then I can reward myself.

This is still the opinion I hold. I think that I will be waiting for the second iteration, as those have consistently been the best versions of handheld hardware for my own purposes.

Oh man, never buy a console at launch. Also, eff Nintendo for region-locking this thing. I used to want one but now I kind of don't.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm gonna wait till the 2nd version of 3DS comes out. It'll probably have a better battery life, look more sleek, and maybe even have more features along with a lower price.
(Here's hoping for the lower price at least.)

Although I'm really on the wait for the orange version to come out...because when I heard that an orange version was at E3 I geeked even more than I thought possible! I mean, 3D w/out glasses, the ability to take 3D pics, internet capabilities, gyro playing, Ocarina of Time in the palm of your hand, AND all in a burnt orange shell!!! I was all like:
