Prayer for my "daughter" Katie

Ok she's not really my daughter, she's my niece but she might as well be. I've basically raised her since she was born (my sister lost custody of her kids and my folks have custody of them, and somehow Katie has become my child. In fact she's been calling me "Mama" with out being encouraged or forced to :n_n: )

Anyways, today we took her down for her 18 month checkup at a new doctor (her old one was just terrible! They had this new policy in place, which they didn't tell us about, that you have to call them back 2 hours after they set up the appointment to confirm it or its cancelled). The new doctor said that Katie still has a heart murmur, which her old doctor never mentioned to us at all (All babies are born with a hole in their heart that causes a murmur, but that would have closed up, in most babies, by the time they are around a year or so). The doctor says he'll check it again when she comes in for her 2 year appointment, and if she still has the murmur he will send her to a pediatric cardiologist, where they will determine if she needs to be on medication or have surgery. I'm not sure which I'd rather her to have.

Please pray that God will heal her heart.

I see a lot of heart murmurs in kids and I've only had one I had to send to a cardiologist. Statistically, the majority turn out to be normal growth, even those that get sent for specialist evaluation. If she's not having any difficulty getting around and acting like an 18-month-old kid, I wouldn't worry too much. Just make sure she's rechecked on the next physical exam.

She seems to be acting like any ordinary 18month old kid...except she tends to be a bit more violent than others (she likes to hit, bite and now kick others, mainly me and her 3 yr old sister!)

Thanks for the prayers for Katie. Today she had her 2 year check up and the doctor couldn't find any signs of a heart murmur. Thanks so much! You are all awesome

God Bless

My daughter has a heart murmur. Her cardiologist told us that most of the time, it turns out ok. She is now three and no surgery or medications have been needed thus far. Regardless, I will be praying for her and the family.
