The subject line, alas, says it all. My laptop had been acting kind of weird lately and today it just died all together. When I try to boot it up, I just get the power light coming on for a few second, but the light then goes off and nothing more happens. So, I took it to the guys in IT at my school, and they think the motherboard's died.
Now, it's a refurbished machine, so it's going to cost a lot more to fix it than I would ever want to put into a machine this old. I'd much rather just save that money towards a new machine. This, however, leaves me in a very difficult situation. I don't have the money to buy a new laptop right now, and it would be dumb to put several hundred dollars into the old one since it's quite old already. But I still need one to finish out this semester of college. Right now, I'm just praying that God will provide something for me-- be that that I just need to grow in the midst of some mild suffering in my life right now-- or that he would mercifully provide some sort of an machine to use in the interim (or the money to buy a new machine). I just don't know. I'm-- amazingly-- not that frustrated, but I sure would appreciate you all praying with me that God would provide. I know he can, and I want to believe that it will happen now. Thanks guys.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill.
Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.
Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.
But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence.
