This works for me:
Before I go to bed (before a test), I imagine myself taking the test. Visualize the more detail the better. See the questions and see yourself calmly considering these questions and answering them. Imagine the answers flowing freeing from you mind to the paper (via a pencil). Maybe imagine a hard question. This one you recognize as a hard one that you need to skip and come back to later. Imagine going on to other questions, then the means to solve the hard problem is revealed to you, and you go back and finish that one. You finish the test slightly early and assured you have done your best.
Try to take the test with the same attitude.
Prayer can be merged with this technique just fine.

I've been praying for you all day, Dan. Hang in there, brother, I know you can do this!
Father, please be with Dan as he goes to take the GRE. Ever since I met him all those months ago, I know he has been studying hard. I know you've been helping him prep for this test, even though it is so much more than that. I know this means a lot for the future for him, Lord. Please, guide him every step of the way.
In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen!

You can't skip questions on the GRE... that just takes off more points...
Just saw this today, (sorry or else I would have definitely kept you in my prayers)... Cringes, I hate the GRE. Got a perfect on the writing section (the key is to type fast and a lot... content remarkable matters little). I will definitely keep you in my prayers concerning the writing section because I know you haven't gotten the scores back for it yet. By the way, have they left the old non-linear test behind? The GRE used to be different for each person, if you did better on the problems it would make them harder each time... and if you missed three in a row at the end because they got to hard (or skipped... it actually takes MORE points off for skipped problems (shrugs shoulders)) then you were dropped in score major time. I heard that this time every person got the same test at the same time and it didn't change according to how well you did... did you find this? Also, how important was the use of vocabulary in the qualitative section this time?
-Has taken the GRE once before and the Physics GRE twice... qualified to fully hate the GRE and all it has done to his life... along with several Cs in a sea of As... but I'll definitely continue to keep you in my prayers that you did well... and MORE importantly that you get into the college and subject of your choice for grad school! (get cranking on those letters of recomendation PRIOR to getting your results back, teachers can take MONTHS to get those things written and they somehow think its your fault that your teachers are procrastinators...

Not on GRE therefore I refuse to wear good grammar

well I'll still pray that you did well and just don't know it. YOu know how they say have faith and things might just happen, so trust in GOD that you got a good grade and you just might! This happened to me during a test in algebra once, I got so stressed out about it that I even cried...that was embarasing, it was a long time ago though, but later I said that I would trust in GOD that I might have just gotten a good grade, and all glory and honor be to GOD I got a 100! *throws confetti* stress releaved!

Ummm... hate to bust bubble but when I took the GRE they told me my score right after I took it, the computer grades you... only the written portion is graded by poor underpaid grad students

O.o;; In light of that ominous bit of information....
Hey, you probably did better than you think, Dan! Ya never know till the scores come in. And even if you didn't do too great, other factors like references will make up for it in the grad school application.
Still praying.
