My friend from iMissions will be with a group going to North Korea during two major celebratios this April. One of the things they want to do is show people what it is to worship God. This is a big thing there because there is so much emphasis on practically worshipping Kim Jong-Il. Please pray for success is preparing the way for a greater breakthrough for Christ to be known and shared in this country.

I didn't even know it was possible to openly go on a mission trip to that country.

It's very carefully planned. Here is the website if you want to take a look.

It isn't. Religion is heavily state controlled, and the only really allowed faith is in Kim Jong-Il (who is lifted up as a god, just read official North Korean accounts of his birth to see what I mean). They claim freedom of religion, but suppress any actual practice of Christianity, and by suppress, I mean imprison, torture, or kill anyone they catch. In fact, the only way to really minister to people is exceedingly dangerous, given that the North Koreans keep minders on everyone who enters and wouldn't allow foreigners outside of their zone of control. They would throw any known missionaries out in a heartbeat, and the people they expose tourists to are the brainwashed elite, given that the regular people in that country are impoverished in the extreme, something Kim Jong-Il and his lackies would never publicly admit. Though God could certainly provide, actually being able to minister in the country without getting thrown out is a very chancy proposition at best, from my understanding. I will pray, this country needs God's help greatly, as it is one of the most oppressive places in the world today (if not the most oppressive), and they not only need spiritual help, but temporal help in a way only God can provide.

There is this table on the board between the North and the South in the DMZ where communion was actually celebrated. Unity is really important to the Koreans and they were allowed to do this by saying that it was a way that Christians could show unity. I think this was Helen's group.

Was it on the Joint Security Area?
This is rather interesting, if you want a look into North Korea
